Grandparent names picked without my consent

Do I have to wait to have grandchildren to call myself Wrinkly Granny? That name is awesome!

In our family, the first grand kids are way, way older than our DCs so when the grandparent names were being chosen, DH and I were still in college and DGAF. Now that we have kids, we just have them called what they’ve always been called.

OP, I am going to attribute your rant to pregnancy hormones.
I am sure happy for you that THIS is your major problem.
Have a great delivery and enjoy you baby☺️

Please, please... what was it?!?!

Was it Granddaddy Dick (Richard) ?

Only name that bothers me is Pap, but my stepson doesn’t know any different and my kids don’t call him that.

I remember getting upset about this when my niece (oldest grandkid was born). My brother and mom decided she would go by the name we used for my mom's mom, who had passed away very very recently. It bothered me a ton but now it is a sweet reminder of her. Hope you can let this go, OP.

Fellaty?

I bet his name is Richard whose friends call him Dick and he wanted the grandkids to call him something like “Big Dick”

Or Rod. Call me Thick Rod, kids, because your other grandfather is known as Little Rod.
.

Poppa Woody?

It's Big Dick, so as to avoid confusion with Little Dick, his namesake.

You . . . you got upset because your mother wanted her grandchildren (and not even your child) to call her what you called her mother?

Really?

This is a crazy post. My nieces and nephews call my parents grandma and grandpa. My children call grandma a name that evolved out of an inability to pronounce her name, which has stuck. As such, the my kids and siblings' kids call their grandparents something different. No one cares. It has zero impact on any of us. My mother, however, loves it because the nickname is special to her.

OP, seriously, calm down.

My cousins all call my grandma “Gaga”. I was just a little kid (2or 3) and I refused and said I could say grandma. Apparently everyone was always offended by me not saying Gaga and I didn’t know until I was an adult. Sigh. Grandparent names are the worst

I kind of get it. In our family it was pawpaw, meemaw and I just really didn’t love it at all.
