Watch Squid Game on Netflix

In a marvel movie, it is all so cartoonish, and you rarely see people actually die. In Star Wars exactly the same. This show is extremely coldly realistic in the violence. I was startled by it a few times. Some of it yes can be clearly cartoonish, the organ harvesting I think kind of falls into this category. But watching people running from a mass shooting? I think you people need to remember what these kids have to run drills for at school.

I'm usually pretty 'kids are resilient and need to learn independence and shouldn't be so sheltered' overall as a parent. But I'm also fine sheltering them from repeat close up graphic headshots.

I posted earlier about my child watching it. I think it really is kid-specific. Obviously among 10 year olds, the number of kids for whom it would be worthwhile viewing is probably quite small. Those of us watching it with our kids and engaging with them about it are probably pretty good judges of whether it's right for them.

Ugh, the kids in the neighborhood were playing "Squid Game" over the weekend. They were playing red light/green light and the person who moved got hit with a ball or shot with a nerf gun. Sigh.

These are kids as young as 8 and they all had seen it already. I haven't let my 11 see it, but he's heard all about it from his friends and even seen clips on their devices.

I've seen the first two episodes and it's way too violent for kids under 14 maybe even under 16.

Kids used to play cops & robbers, cowboys & Indians (holy shit, how problematic was that?!), and eat candy cigarettes. Unless you're sending your kid out into the world covered in bubble wrap you need to get a grip.

They may be seeing PG rated clips on Tik Tok. Apparently that's the primary mechanism for word spreading about the show, which had almost no publicity in the US. My 10 yo DD is aware of it because of that, but I'd never let her watch it. She's too young and too sensitive.

Parents also didn’t use car seats. When you know better, you do better.

Ugh now that means if my kid plays Red Light Green Light at recess some other kid will tell her she gets shot in the head or killed if she moves. I don’t see how others don’t find this problematic.

I just came from the Facebook/Instagram thread. It occurred to me that FB and Insta are so much more problematic, both for individual kids and for society.

Now my Netflix recommendations are heavily skewed to Asian shows lol.

There is something really wrong with parents who show this to their pre-teen and under kids. No wonder children these days have so many mental health issues.

I pretended to kill so many people as a kid. I watched a bunch of war movies. Also, Tom & Jerry was incredibly violent.

+1 This is a very disturbing show to allow anyone below the age of 13-14 to watch.

Loved it and wish it was less violent bc my 12 yo would really enjoy all of the themes in the show but no way am I showing him - way too brutal and gory.
