Right. And it wasn't his birthright, at least not yet, so she really didn't understand the structure of the family she married into.

I think it’s you who really doesn’t understand, actually. But hey, don’t let that stop you from criticizing the black lady.

Well for those on here who live in a $1million does that mean you are not living in reality. The average cost of a house in the US is $200,000, so you heifers live in fantasy land with your 1million dollar plus tear downs. Somehow that does not stop many of you from lamenting about your husbands or children not getting into UVA.

A $1 million house in a trendy area of So Cal like Montecito is a shack. $15M is huge and ostentatious. They want a public royal life without the responsibilities and thus can fund it themselves instead of crying about it like two college students who need to be supported by mom and dad.

I do think the decision to buy an ostentatious mansion is telling. They could have purchased a home for 1/3 the price and it would be have been gorgeous large and private. https://www.redfin.com/city/24388/CA/Montecito

To me they did seem the most bitter about money-related issues. If they were still being funded by Charles, they wouldn't have done this interview, trust.

I wondered about this, too. I mean look $5million can be totally palatial and private: https://www.redfin.com/CA/Montecito/117-Crestview-Ln-93108/home/21521930

What the heck did they get for $15million and why did they feel the need for it for their small family? It absolutely says a lot about concern with status.

The RF was very pissed about the shower. She was told not to do it and they were very offended by it.

So they get to take her passport? Creepy.

She did a lot of traveling for someone without a passport.

You people are so obtuse. She HAD a passport. As in she owned a passport. She was not in physical possession of it. Once she was 'in' there were people who handled all of that for her. Which was great, until she wanted to go somewhere totally of her own free will.

Obtuse you. Are these royals free to travel somewhere if they wish or not?

Maybe you should actually read the thread, since you don't seem to have been paying attention.

Yes, they clarified that about 3 times. The title confers security. Absence of title = absence of security. The most telling part is: Those are the rules; I don't make the rules, but you're the royal family. Reminds me of the bodega owner on Seinfeld who wouldn't take down the bounced check, despite owning the store.

They had security until March 2020. That’s the first thing.

Second, Archie could’ve been made prince with a new letters patent, if Harry and Meghan asked for it. To my knowledge, they did not ask for it.

The reveal here last night is that they were told he wouldn't. And then either they were forced to put out a statement or the palace put out a statement at the time saying they 'chose' that but last night they said clearly that they did not choose that. And therefore the story was inaccurate.

If someone tells you that they are going to take something from you and in scenario a they will announce that they took it from you and in scenario b you get to save face by saying you chose that and you choose scenario b, you still had something taken from you against your will. And they made it sound more like a scenario c last night, where they take it from you but tell everyone you choose that to make themselves look less like thieves.

Anonymous wrote:Did anyone else find it odd, that in this interview, with PLENTY of heavy topics like racism, questions about the baby's skin color, not dealing with mental health issues appropriately, heavy discussion on the family vs. the firm, and so on and so on, Meghan said that Kate made her cry about the f-ing flower girl dresses????

I'm sorry, I like Meghan and I'm rooting for her, but that seemed TOTALLY PETTY. I don't know why she just didn't say, when O. asked, "That is an example of a totally false tabloid story. In short, the answer is NO, I never made Kate cry about the dresses."

Answering like she did, did not fit well with the rest of the interview. It seemed like there were petty feuds and it just gave more ammo to those rumors. I found it so strange that she threw Kate under the bus like that, only to make herself look petty.

I disagree I think its an important distinction. Saying 'it never happened' is somewhat vague and can be easily forgotten, saying 'this not only did not happen, but the reverse actually did happen and someone in the palace reversed the roles in the story and pushed it out months later' says much more clearly that the firm was looking to intentionally hurt her, a point that would not have been made by 'it never happened.'

She went out of her way to not paint Kate badly here.

Okay, but just to push further. If no one has power, if everyone is trapped, how could Kate correct this? Honest question that is bothering me. Meghan has her passport and phone taken away, but Kate can just speed dial the British media and correct this? Or even issue her own press release?

I honestly don't know, but something doesn't add up here.

Some celebrities refuse to have their children be photographed. Smart people.

That house is a paparazzo’s dream. No frontage or acreage to protect the occupants from viewers, easy 360 camera views, no hidden access points or driveways, no old growth trees to prevent overhead views.

You have no clue what is needed to protect high-security risks.

DP. This may surprise you but a lot of people decide who they deem worthy of praise or criticism without ever taking race into account. Many people even recommend not basing your judgment of others on their skin color.

I'm a new poster, but I agree with the PP. American's think that any relation of the royal family gets a title, but it's not necessarily true, and not, as simple as you would expect. Archie is the son of a second born son of the first born son of the queen. That does not make him a prince. Just because Megahn wants her life to read like a storybook doesn't actually make it so. There are books about peerage and titles, she should read them.

Meghan's race has nothing to do with it, she is just ignorant of the title protocol.

Look, MM has been concerned with status from the get when she feigned knowing nothing about the BRF or Harry. It's a joke to suggest a huge part of the issue wasn't money, compounded by the heir vs spare discrepancy.
