What do we think will happen on Monday?

You want FCPS to take care of snow piles on side streets?

To these dimwits, FCPS is responsible for everything, everywhere. Anything that is remotely challenging or inconvenient must be FCPS's fault. They won't take responsibility for anything, nor will they admit that the schools can't solve all problems.

Well, if you follow Reid’s rationale, FCPS is part of the community and therefore, should pitch in with their heavy equipment as much as me with my metal shovel.

We live near an elementary school that is about 3 houses off a main road. Main road fine. Side street to school is one lane. School was cleared last Monday with skid steers and plows.

It would be great if FCPS widened the road up for the buses and kiss/ride lanes to work. I get it though, VDOT is responsible for this road and not FCPS. Just Reid’s Friday email talked about everyone pitching in, she’s just not willing to have FCPS help pitch in.

Just shut up. STFU. You sound like a complete a$$. FCPS doesn’t have equipment to clear streets. The parking lots are cleared by contractors.

Yeah that’s an awful take. The school custodians have shovels and salt.

From the info schools just got from Reid as well as the way bus drivers are talking… and more counties around us closing… I’m starting to think we might be closed. 30 minutes ago I was sure we’d open. Eek!

Probably so, but then what's the plan? Because this isn't going to resolve.

Why have there been no efforts for almost a week, VDOT and FCPS included to clear lanes and extricate busses? Yes sidewalks are a problem but the first two haven’t been taken care of and there hasn’t been a plow in sight all weekend.

man fcps isn't doing anything to put these kids back into schools..

Is there a VDOT forum? Ask there

My son is a walker and there’s no way he can get to his school walking. We would drive him for kiss and ride.

I’m annoyed that the trucks and plows just stopped coming by early in the week.

There’s no good solution and I don’t envy them deciding.

I was driving around Annandale today, there are roads where you have to drive on the wrong side of the road. A Metro bus stopped and blocked traffic in both directions. People are walking their dogs in the street. No school until 2/9.

Reckless and ice no way that is a no go.

We have thought about it. Those same conditions will persist for weeks.

So forge ahead anyway? That’s your plan?

What are bus drivers saying? (Sorry, just poking into this thread now so don't know if that's been covered here already.)
