What do we think will happen on Monday?

We’ve only used up, at most, 3 1/2 snow days. We were lucky this week coincided with pre-planned professional development days. Does FCPS still allot 10 snow days per school year? If so, nobody has to worry about a longer school year.

Yes, the equivalent to something like that, in hours.

But FCPS would only be liable for deaths and injuries on a school campus, right? I’m just trying to imagine how the legal team would think here…

The schools are very well plowed. People are driving everywhere. There will be normal school.

You do realize that there are students who walk either to school or bus stops, yes? Where should they stand if their bus stop is a mountain of frozen snow?

And to the PP who said that their street still has not been plowed... It is very hard to believe your claim. If, by some chance, you speak the truth, why in the world did you not call VDOT on Tuesday to report the mistake?

I'm not sure if you're talking to me, but I did (OP). They came through again, but it is a road with a 90-degree right and left turn that were done by two plows starting from each road, which means that there is no room to turn. In addition, the road right outside the elementary school only has two lanes plowed, but the curve in the road is only plowed one way, which means cars (and therefore buses) will have to wait their turns to get to the elementary school.

Oh, so your street has been plowed? Several times, it sounds like. You are just angry that there is snow piled up along the sides making it difficult to maneuver. Annoying, yes. But your street (and everyone else's street in the county) has indeed been plowed.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Apostate!

The bikers/walkers will go along the neighborhood streets. The bus riders will stand in people's driveways or in the street. And it will be just fine. Do you propose that school be canceled for all of next week as well? Have you seen the forecast? The mountains of frozen snow are not going anyway for quite a while.

Oh, I'm not angry; I was merely to set the scene so that you can understand why the buses won't be able to get through. As a side note, this is the LARGE neighborhood's main road that about 20/30 school buses from the middle school use. Also, my street wasn't plowed until this morning and was previously blocked, so I was finally able to get out and did indeed see many unplowed roads and almost no sidewalks where an attempt had even been made to clean them. I'm sure that if the county ups its game and works hard, they can get it clear for school, but it is currently looking like a delay.

That’s why we have snow days! We haven’t even used half of them, so, ma’am, with all respect, you don’t need to worry about a shorter summer vacation.

I'm the teacher PP. I am not worried in the least. I am just realistic.

Yeah, I’m betting on closure. Anyone have a magic 8 ball?

The county doesn’t plow streets or sidewalks. VDOT does streets and homeowners are supposed to do their sidewalks.

different poster and our neighborhood is still a disaster. a pickup truck with a plow came by sunday later afternoon but barely made a dent in the snow. there is barely a one car path plowed on the main road in our neighborhood with most spots being sheets of ice. we are walkers but there is no way my kids are making it up a hill 1/2 mile to school. no salt was ever put down. i want school open but i think more neighborhoods are a mess than you’d like to admit
