Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
You need to go find childcare instead of trying to claw back teacher pay. You’ve gone over the edge and it’s time to put your phone down. |
| I’m happy with the decision. Safety first! |
Well, then I’m going to start charging for all the days I work at home. I graded essays for close to 40 hours this past week. Shouldn’t I be able to bill the county for that? And I worked today for a few hours as I rewrote plans. Should I bill for that, as well? And I’m sure you’ve been told this before: if we have it so good, why haven’t you applied yet? Is it… just maybe… you know it isn’t as great as you pretend it is? |

Already on it |
| I think the county needs to put up signs for one way traffic flow. It is the only way it will work. It’s not like one lane and you can pull over. It’s just the one lane!! |
DP I don’t think she was trying to remove teacher pay, I thought she was trying to get them to work on the days they were paid? |
| Kudos to those who said closed. You were right |
That’s on the Governor and VDOT, not FCPS. |
Are you an hourly worker? All salary employees no matter where you work get paid if your building is closed. |
She wants them in the building or not paid. It’s bizarre and weird. The schools are closed, and this is still within the allotment of regular snow days. |
Buddy, I don’t think you want teachers billing for actual time spent working, but if you want to switch to that model, I’m game.
|
No, I do not need childcare. I have middle and high school kids and I will be working tomorrow just like everyone else (well besides FCPS teachers). This is not about attacking teachers or their pay. It is about the fact that most working adults are expected to go in or at least work, regardless of disruptions, without regularly scheduled half days built in. Pointing that out is not “going over the edge,” it is acknowledging how work functions for the rest of us. |

I just did the math on that. The county would owe me over $60K in overtime pay. So I agree, PP! Let’s go with this plan! |
