What do we think will happen on Monday?

With another day of closure, they’ll be able to magic a fleet of bobcats and tractors and a bunch of people to work them, and they’ll hire construction crews with jackhammers to break up the ice and then push it away, far away into the woods and fields surrounding the schools so Larla and Aiden have a place to park, and it will all be like it never even happened by Tuesday at 9 am!!!

+1

"we look for tomorrow’s warming weather to allow VDOT time to clear those remaining intersections and roadways that may cause challenges for buses and drivers."

Ok. It's supposed to get above 30 degrees for maybe 4 hours in the afternoon.

That’s something at least. I’ll be out shoveling for those 4 hours.

Right, because the teachers are the ones making the decisions about closures. 🙄

Are they being paid to work? Then get them working to get the schools open.

Ok, yeah we will get right on that.

Is it too much to ask?

Seriously?

Yes.

I will be working more than a full day tomorrow. School offices will open on time, so I will be at the school, working. Then I will go home to make dinner for my family before I will almost certainly work another few hours after dinner.

Schools being closed is stressful for secondary teachers who are required to teach an entire curriculum in a set amount of time. TTherefore, every time there is a delay or closure, we have to replan everything so we can stay as close to "on pace" as possible. It takes time.

APS and ACPS and FCCPS and PWCS and MCPS all closed too. She’s literally aligned with every other district besides LCPS.

Yeah exactly why is LCPS even opening tomorrow

Because they’re responsive to the needs of their parent body.

So then it's fair to not get paid for tomorrow? Who else but teachers demand to get paid for not working

+1 this should be the end of early release Weds for the school year and it should not be resumed in ‘26-‘27. Email your school board members, attaching Reid’s email which documents all the new time
Available For teachers.

Actually, I was paid for this past Monday and Tuesday when our office was closed. P.S. I think we should be open but also realize that teachers have nothing to do what that decision.

So then it's fair to not get paid for tomorrow? Who else but teachers demand to get paid for not working

Why are you blaming teachers?

Yep that's exactly what I'm doing. Why should you all get paid and not work like the rest of us? Go in tomorrow and then we can get rid of a few of the Wednesday half days or other upcoming teacher "workdays".

No. That wouldn't make sense. They are contracted from August 11 to June 18. That includes time during which schools are closed for inclement weather.

Email and request they do away with the Teacher Workdays coming up. Time to get our kids in school. We have another 4 day weekend coming up. Such incompetence and lazyness.

Yippee!!!! A 10 day weekend for the kiddos! Woohoo! 🥳
