With a debt ceiling increase, Dems get to spend more money, whatever Republicans agree to.

Their leverage is Biden can blame them for any problems, as he chooses what programs to spend on to stay within the debt limit.

But you are silent on the unfunded tax cuts which ballooned both the deficit and the debt. Why?

Clinton did not posture while he was negotiating big deals with Lott and Gingrich in 1996. He let them pretend they won. Obama did not successfully negotiate anything significant with Republicans.

I think we should make people work
If you’re in social security between 70-80 years old you can work a 10 hours a week, it wil be good for your health and for this nation.
If you’re on welfare you should work 25 hours a week, if you need childcare it will be provided for free
If you’re on SSI you can work at any McDonald’s and you will get free meals

You know it costs more to oversee and enforce those work requirements than it costs to have them, right? I don't necessarily disagree with you but it's kind of stupid to ignore that there are real costs associated with this and they mostly outweigh the benefits.

How do you propose those 80 years olds get to their job, in many cases over an hour away?
This benefits theft is all because MAGA GOP don’t want to make the wealthy and big corporations pay what they owe.

What if we hired unemployed people and paid them full government salaries and benefits to track work requirements? It can be done remotely, so it’s perfect for disabled folks, the elderly, and people with some forms of mental illness. A government jobs program with not a dime to the contractors - that’s a job program I can get behind. Let’s do it, Republicans!

I dont think Dems are looking for a “win.” They know MAGA are happy to blow up economy. They are looking for path forward. If ppl are upset the “Dems caved” then organize & donate so we get the House back and keep Senate & WH in 2024.

I am too deeply disappointed to vote or donate to the dems. They will just roll over and give the republicans every they want. Look at Roe v. Wade. They have done nothing. Roe v. Wade was alway the excuse given to not let a simple majority vote in the senate. Now Roe v. Wade is gone but the 60 vote requirement remains.

He has to get 12 Republican Senators.
The House eventually will have to pass whatever can pass the Senate. They will complain about it but that’s how it always works.

You forget the sequester. When Harry Reid wouldn't negotiate, McConnell called Joe Biden saying 'I need a dance partner.' They extended the capital gains tax cut I think.
