So my mid 20's dd wants to buy a Jeep as her first car. She is looking at the Compass and the Renegade models. She wants to sit up high and she wants something that a younger person would drive. Has anyone had a Jeep and can explain what maintenance costs are like? We are Toyota and Subaru drivers, so we don't know anything about Jeep. We are hoping we can still sway her back to Subaru, Honda, or Toyota but I am not sure what else would compare to the
Jeep. Maybe a Honda Element would be better. |
| Nothing compares with Jeep. Don’t get one. |
|
Lord. They're expensive (which you don't care about), they're bad for the environment (which you don't care about), but they're also not that safe. Hopefully you care about that last part, and haven't spent your child's entire childhood giving in top their spoiled brat whims. |
| Jeeps are crap but I don't think she would be happy with a Honda Elderment. |
| Junk |
| A big mistake |
OP here. If they are junk, then what would you recommend instead? Needs to be AWD and high off the ground. She does not like what I have recommended so far (RAV4 and Subaru Outback) although I think RAV4 might be the best choice.
|
| They are junk and a risk for flipping over. |
Crosstrek is more youth friendly than an outback. Very safe and relatively inexpensive too. Comes in weird young people colors like baby blue and orange. |
|
Honda Elements aren't being made any more. We love ours, but they aren't popular with young women. Jeeps are expensive and can be dangerous, but are extremely trendy.
Honda CR-V? Toyota RAV? Subaru Forester? One of the sportier Subaru's? |
RAV4 or CRV |
| Honda HR-V? |
| I think you should let your adult daughter choose her own car. She clearly doesn't like your suggestions. |
|
Is she buying it with her own money?
Then she buys whatever she wants. She is an adult and can do research to see the pros and cons of various cars and make an informed choice. |
This. HRV. |
