Amazing how morally bankrupt these parents and kids are.

Why do the kids need to know about the fraud? They should be kicked out because they were admitted on fradulent credentials. It doesn't matter if they knew or not. That's life.

+1 and the kids who got in based on sports know for a fact that they never rowed.

+2 they don’t deserve to be there and they should be removed

They don't call USC the "University of Spoiled Children" for nothing.

+3 I know people are being really mean about the kids on the internet. I think it’s trollish behavior meant to cause division. But these people broke the law. Done. The kids shouldn’t benefit from it. If you gain admission under false pretenses you get kicked out.

And they all take the ACT. They get almost double the time and it is an easy test. The whole point of that test is that you need to be quick and efficient.

If you are giving extra time, it must be on the harder test.

My daughter goes to a top 5 private. She is a senior and estimates that 1/3 of the kids are on “accommodations.” Extra hour for every exam. Extra time for tests. No quick quizzes. HW is given one extra day. It is a complete disgrace. Ruins it for the kids that truly need it.

When kids are pulling 34-36 - pulease.

My kid got a 35 with extra time. He has had the accommodation of time and a half since 2nd grade. The last time he was tested by the psychologist was in middle school (7th or 8th grade) and he had his ACT accommodations in 11th grade was based on that testing and diagnosis (ADHD and slow processing). He was tested again in 12th grade and it turns out he still has ADHD, but his processing speed has improved significantly from 8th grade. I guess it must have been that way when he took his ACT. That is great news and we are thrilled about his improvement. And for all the hardship he had to endure those years, he got the bonus a great score. And based on his new testing, he would not qualify for the extra time, which he obviously no longer needs.

So basically he cheated, but you are okay with it and feel proud because he worked hard in earlier years and DESERVED it? Got it.

He did not cheat. Where do you get that? This was above board and legit. The kid got a lucky break...good for him!

Last time he was checked was 7th grade. You made damn sure to not get him rechecked during 10/11th. Once the testing and major grades were out of the way for colleges, he just happen to get tested again. And poof. All gone. You knew. He knew it. You kept the accommodation thru this knowing there as a chance he would lose it. And you felt he deserved this “lucky” break. It was cheating the system.

This is really harsh. I have a kid with asthma. His meds and our routine is working and has been working for several years now. I am not messing with it and fortunately it’s not really affecting his life right now. I haven’t gone to figure out what he “needs” today versus what he “needed” yesterday. His asthma management plan confers on him the right to decide to skip gym without consultation with a parent or doctor. Now he loves gym so wouldn’t abuse this privilege, but even if he did, I wouldn’t be trying to “break the rules” but rather not prioritizing re-evaluation and change of something that is working.

First, I don’t think that’s what pp is saying.

Every kid who gained access through false pretenses should be expelled. Whether they knew or not. They broke the rules of the system.

Some were over 18, correct? Are they also criminally liable? Specifically the Loughlin daughters who faked being on crew team.

I think they should have to re-apply. They can use their current grades, activities, etc. the way a transfer student would. Give them a chance to be admitted by their own credentials and see what happens.

Every kid who isn't actually qualified to go to the school their parents bribed them to get into should be expelled.

Not clear if they are criminally liable or not. if they clearly were DOJ could have indicted.

The kids violated all the schools code of conduct and the part of the common app that said all was true.

But one mom (not Laughlin) was caught talking to Aingwr and said she was concerned bc at her kid’s interview the admissions person said ‘so you run track’ and the kid said ‘no.’ Mom was worried the scheme would fall apart and kid was clueless.

This is a no brainer. Laws were broken in efforts to dupe college admission. This wasn’t lying about being in Spanish club that one year. (Which is bad enough) This was blatant, and they were caught. Every kid who breaks the law? I don’t think so. These kids? Yes. There is zero tolerance for lying in college applications. Laws or no. You’re conflating 2 things.

Every child that was a pawn should be expelled. That's like arresting a prostitute who was trafficked. Let keep the eye on the ball girls.

I know you're all pissy that some kid who did not "earn it" is in a college... gasp. But your lack of morals are showing.

How about we just list the laws that your kid breaks and say... that should NOT get you expelled and list all other laws and make those laws that warrant expulsion.

Felicity Huffman is facing federal charges for faking a 1420 on the SAT's? A 1420.

I’m be embarrassed to claim the kid who needed to cheat just to get that score as my own.

I don't even know how to feel about the scores themselves. I hovered around the mid 1450s taking it pretty much cold and it was fine. Not HYP but Georgetown/Tufts/Davidson/ W&M. Not bad at all. But to cheat for that? With ALL of their resources?

At the same time, her baseline was 1020. If you're dealing with 1020 I bet 1420 sounds pretty miraculous for 15k and I am 100% sure it puts you in a totally different league of schools. Probably not Yale, but a far cry from 1020 league.

Yes, I was thinking that. I read sections of the FBI report, & Huffman/Macy's daughter had an SAT tutor for months and was only scoring in the 1200s.
