In 2008, Obama won with a majority of 52.9% and 69 million votes - only 6 million more than Trump got in 2016. The media and Obama called it a "MANDATE" and lied and cheated (Cornhusker kickback comes to mind) to get the votes for Obamacare passage. What is different than now and why isn't this campaign promise called a Mandate? Meanwhile back on planet earth, 79% of Americans polled believe we need better border security. |
Better border security but no wall. |
Trump does not keep his promises. His word means nothing, so he gives people no reason to negotiate or compromise. |
Obama won with an outright majority in the middle of a financial crisis. And still it took him a year to get Obamacare through with zero Republican help. He used up all his political capital for that, lost Congress and had no major legislative successes after that. Trump won on his supposed negotiating skill which would fix Washington and yes, bring a wall. But he reneged on his own wall deal earlier this year and now he has broken Washington. And his famous deal making skills are nowhere in sight. If he wants a wall from Democrats, what is he willing to give in return? He doesn't have much political capital left, he better use it or lose it. And border security is not the same as a wall. I'd like increased border security, and speeded up resolution of cases, not a wall. So back in February he turned do |
New poster. It’s easier if you just accept that this is truly who these people always have been. Trump has simply given them permission to be open about it. Trump supporters are hate filled mostly because they live in a fear paradigm. Compassion and empathy are foreign to them. You will not convince the 30% of people who still support him of anything. You are not the idiot whisperer. It’s easier to just focus on the people who matter. |
Hello. Obama won the majority of the vote. Trump did not. Obama also got 6 million more votes than Trump. You're welcome. |
New study out that reveals school bullying incidents have increased in areas that voted for Trump, and decreased in areas that voted for Clinton: https://www.npr.org/2019/01/09/683177489/virginia-study-finds-increased-school-bullying-in-areas-that-voted-for-trump |
And back to the question: How long will the shutdown last? |
Magic 8 ball says ask again later. |
This IS later. |
Trust me I’m aware. My spouse is a Fed. But I have no clue. They are nowhere close to an agreement. |
No time soon.

“Trump cancels trip to Davos citing government shutdown, which would suggest that he expects it to still be going on at least another 10 days.”
