Yes it is his choice. A choice that Democrats do not like, and Republicans like. There is no funding so he can choose to fire people and eliminate agencies. And Democrats are letting it happen by voting no. So why are Republicans in Congress even passing this CR? |
Please explain why you think he couldn’t do this when government was funded. Really clear explanation for everyone who used to work at USAID please. |
We know. |
Exactly. This is a feature, not a bug. It's why this is Trump's third shutdown, more than any other recent president. He's using it as an excuse for what he and that ghoul Voight have wanted since day 1: Dismantle government and divvy up the spoils among his donors. Look what he's doing with Tik Tok. |
|
So what is the goal here for the Dems? It seems they are just doing a little adjustment of policy. The Dems could careless are about the Epstein files, Trump putting US military in the streets of blue cities, blowing up innocent fishermen, Trump and his family’s corruption, ICE’s Criminal activities, the FBI arresting elected democrats officials, masked men abducting people off the street, etc.
The Dems want to help ease the pain for maga and keep rural hospitals open? Sounds like a win for Trump. Did the Dems think this through? If democracy is in Jeopardy why don’t the democrats act like it is? |
Yes, Dems wish the best for both their supporters and their opponents. It's what Jesus would do. |
Trump tweeted celebrating Vought. Also all Republicans in Congress are happy about Vought and the shutdown because they’re in power and could change the situation very easily! |
We are awaiting the Speaker to swear in the new Dem House member from AZ so she can be the 218th and final signer of the Epstein disposition. Not the Dems fault. |
DP. He can’t though. RIFs create additional financial obligations. Should be obvious but you legally are not allowed to make new financial obligations during a shutdown. |
| Hey Chuck Schumer, Democrats on DCUM agree that Republicans are responsible for the shutdown. You are now free to have Democrats vote for the CR, you won't be blamed. |
Nope! Try again buddy |
It's his choice, which makes it his shutdown. And if he proceeds with eliminating agencies that were established by statute, that's illegal and he needs to be held accountable. Similarly, if he does massive staff cuts that cripple agencies and prevent them from carrying out statutorily mandated responsibilities, that's also illegal and he needs to be held accountable. Trump and everyone involved - including Vought and all involved agency officials. |
Trumps could (and did) do it regardless of what the Democrats do/did. Trump made the rule to do it, so he will own it. If the Dems caved, Trump would/could STILL do it — AND get what he wants with regard to the budget. |
Folks - if we play this right, we can get Vought the full “thrown under the MAGA bus” treatment Elon Musk got. Let’s get on it. Elon was just a useful idiot. Vought and Miller are actually running this show. And we all know Trump doesn’t hesitate to trash anyone flying too close to his bright orange sun. |
Bingo. That's why all the threats are hollow. They've been firing people and eliminating agencies for months. They are going to keep trying to do it regardless of any shutdown or CR. In order for a threat to be credible, you other side has to believe you will stop if they give into your demands. Democrats know they won't. |
