You are right, but Dems have an often misunderstood (or ignore) what the people are trying to say. Most notably what independents want. The Dems win but believe they have a mandate for everything they’re putting forth and then we get … Trump 1.0. Then to moderate that we get Biden. Then Trump 2.0.

We live in a two party system. If you are lucky, you get to occasionally vote for someone you like. If not you vote for the lesser of two evils. And you certainly don’t vote for someone who says they will be a dictator on day one.

I'm convinced people think the two entities currently controlling our two-party system are public entities that can't be left to fail. They are in fact failing dysfunctional PRIVATE entities that should be allowed to fail unless there is some magical way for them to be completely overhauled and reformed.

Sure, and then the next duopoly can just repeat the process after a few years or maybe a generation of good(ish) government.

Its probably past time to re-evaluate how we do democracy and even if democracy is the right answer.

It will simply be a rebrand, except less chips and more air in the bag.

No, because there should always be a plan to eject the major parties when they stop working for the people. Right now, they have no threat and no reason to improve. They need each other and keep each other in power.

I don’t know what that looks like practically but the two existing parties need to go.

For example see the thread on the VA AG. People identify with their party over everything, so candidate quality matters less and less.

That’s because one party represents an existential threat to American democracy. When/if Republicans stop embracing crazy, we can go back to voting for the best person rather than the party.

Sure, the job market is booming right now, especially in DC. Plenty of open positions for Feds in the private sector, with even better retirement and benefits. The more, the merrier.
