Democrats say don't blame them for a shutdown; it's all Republicans fault and they control the three branches.
They also say they are doing this to get health care subsidies. That it is all worth it to let people know they fought for health care. I thought it was the Republicans that were shutting things down? They want credit if you like the shutdown, and blame cast on Republicans if you don't like the shutdown. |

80% of the ACA subsidies democrats are fighting for right now, that are about to expire, go to people in states that Trump won in 2024.

Look, the Republicans are in charge now. They have decided not to responsibly govern. That's not the Democratic Party's fault. If they actually want to responsibly govern, they should make a plan and carry it out, not just have government shutdowns over and over: do what constituents elected you to do and make a plan for governance that we can debate. Don't just demand that everyone carry out nonsensical commands like the ones Trump barked at the Generals last week. |

Glad that most Americans can see reality even as republicans and the media lie to them.

Probably because in between lying about trans surgeries in Peru, the republicans cannot stop taking about how happy they are that the government is shut down so they have a new excuse to cut government services. |
Who likes the shutdown? I have not heard one person (other than Russell Vought) say this. |
| Republicans hate government. Why do they care? |
It sounds to me like Trump does according to this Times article: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/10/02/us/politics/trump-vought-shutdown-cuts.html?unlocked_article_code=1.qk8.HCV6.fBrAYwe5-4EM&smid=url-share |
Exactly. Trumps main achievement thus far in his administration is to permanently undermine trust in government. |
He liked the excitement of January 6, too. All those adoring fans breaking into the Capitol and threatening Congress and the VP. He was having a ball! |
| What time is the next vote this afternoon? |
Well Trump himself was just short of rubbing his hands together and cackling with glee saying shit like "well gee the Democrats are forcing me to permanently fire people and get rid of agencies" so he clearly wants it - and is lying about being "forced" to permanently get rid of anything by anyone. It's entirely his choice and it's never before happened as a result of a shutdown. No shutdown in US history ever "forced" the President to permanently fire anyone let alone eliminate agencies. Historically, they just resumed work once funding was restored. He's looking to lawlessly do that entirely on his own and is lying about it to give himself cover. |

It is reasonable to ask Republicans why they expect Democrats would vote for things now that passed without their votes just a few months ago.
Was passing legislation in a Senate that requires 60 votes for final passage of a budget with 51 votes thru reconciliation smart? Maybe this whole "bi-partisan" thing has some merit. That or the GOP should just change the rules like they have other times when it suited them. |
exactly! |
Look what the democrats are asking for will help Trump in the midterms. I really hope the Dems fold and don’t get anything…even a fake deal. Please Dems just fold. |
