For those who are going to complain about Raw Story, it’s just describing an appearance on Morning Joe yesterday by the NYT’s Peter Baker. Chris Matthews was also on in a different segment today saying Trump is going to look stupid for picking this guy just because his kids wanted him.

This is like when Ivanka told Trump to go make a speech where there were some protestors in DC with a Bible in his hand. I don't think his kids give him good advice.

Conservative never Trumper here. Will likely vote for Jill Stein as a protest vote. However I have a soft spot for JD and just hope he doesn’t get decimated in the VP debate like Dan Quayle did in 1988 by Lloyd Bentsen.

“BENTSEN: Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy, I knew Jack Kennedy, Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you are no Jack Kennedy. (Prolonged shouts and applause) What has to be done in a situation like that is to call in the --

WOODRUFF: Please, please, once again you are only taking time away from your own candidate.”

QUAYLE: That was really uncalled for, Senator. (Shouts and applause)

JD will definitely get destroyed in a VP debate. He's getting destroyed just by his own words; no rebuttal needed from the other side.

He’ll just shout over the Democrat and then claim he won.

The bottom line is Bush still won that election. I don’t think voters care too much about who the VP candidate is.

Voters don't care about the VP candidate unless the VP candidate is SO awful. You can't tell me Sarah Palin didn't hurt McCain.

I agree Palin hurt McCain but I don’t think McCain had any chance of winning that election after Lehman Bros.

The couches and whatnot is what brings people in to learn more about him. And then they find out that he is against abortion in the case of rape and incest ("two wrongs don't make a right"), that he thinks people with children should have more votes than people without children, that he "hates police," that he just wants to give Ukraine to Russia, repeats the unfounded accusation that the 2020 election was rigged/stolen, and the list goes on and on.

+1 Pretty savvy analysis. Putting it even more simply, the Republican strategy may have been to a) attract potential voters with reports of Vance having had sexual contact with couches and then b) with their interest piqued, really nail them down by touting his:

- defense of incest,
- affection for totalitarian regimes,
- appealing use of eyeliner.

It hasn’t worked but, to be fair, hindsight is 20/20.

They care when the presidential candidate is a senile and unhealthy 78yo.

Good grief.

Aw, Trump likes JD so much he’s already lying about his academic record just like he’s always lied about his own.

Don’t think Dems have hit the “one heartbeat away” as they should.

After today’s debacle, I could see Usha pressuring JD to dump Trump. They’re young and they’re going to be laughing stocks forever wedded to this racist idiot.
