Yeah, I don't think it is necessary, and I am indeed a he. If you have money to burn on private school then go for it, as I agree the higher level competition in the private school leagues is better for development. But being one of the better players on a top tier team is really all that is necessary, and also very unlikely for most of our daughters unfortunately.

To clarify, if you want to go to a top 20 ranked lacrosse school you probably want to go to a private school to help prepare.

I think it all depends on how much training goes on at a younger age. Not all private school girls are that good in middle school and some public school girls are really good. Private school does not determine you level of play.

I disagree with this. Private schools, at least in the DC area, are doing very little to help their players get recruited. Most or all of the recruiting is done by the clubs. I believe you could take any top private school player, put them on public school team, and the outcome would be the same. Now you do see more top players from private schools in this area because lacrosse is a very popular sport with well-to-do families. But, correlation does not imply causation in this case.

Yeah, it's the case. You only have to look at rosters, Tewaaraton winners, etc.

It is merely a coincidence that many of those players were on a top club team before ever stepping foot on their HS campus.

Transport yourself back one year for a moment, before the 2027s ever played a HS game. Couldn’t you have come up a pretty good list of the sure thing D1 players? I could, so I am skeptical of any claims that private school makes some enormous difference in outcomes.

There are only a couple girls on Capital 27 Blue that don’t attend private schools. Make whatever inferences you want. Kids from other areas like Long Island don’t leverage privates as much and their public school lacrosse teams are very good as a result (and probably not necessary to attend a private). My wife grew up there and played. DC is a different story.
