Winning enough games to stay in the top brackets at this age group is the only reason it matters. More coaches will be at the fields where the top brackets are being played and college coaches could care less who won the game. They will also go to non-top brackets on occasion to see a specific player but it is a lot harder to be seen. Equal playing time should be the goal at this age but if you don't have strong enough players to win enough games to stay in top brackets you might need to adjust.

This is correct answer, you gotta be competitive or you are not going to get into top brackets when it matters.

Doesn't winning enough games to be able to compete in the top brackets imply winning does matter?

"They're you go again!"

No, it does not. You can lose every single game you play, but if you lose them all by 1 against the top teams in the country, you will still be in the top brackets. Winning the games does not matter.

I would love to hear the pre game speech that happens before these games. "Alright girls, our goal today it to only lose by 1 goal!"

I think it would be better for you to be focused on hearing the pre game speech of the team your kid is actually on.

As someone who has been through this twice before, let me add some balanced insights

1) Yes obviously, sophomore year club should be focused on showcasing players in front of college coaches

2) Results in the fall do matter, because they will largely indicate which bracket you will be in for the summer

3) Playing in top brackets will get you more exposure, not just because of the # of coaches but because of the level of competition. Level of competition is really important if you are targeting top 20 schools.

4) Fall rankings just published. Here are the 4 teams above them and 4 teams below them. These are likely the teams Capital will be playing the most in the summer

20. MD United
21. Team One Wildcat
22. Skywalkers
23. LI Liberty
25. Monster
26. Team 180
27. Coppermine
28. Yellow Jackets north

This doesn't mean Cap Blue girls won't get recruiting results and won't get into great schools. It just means that it will be a little bit harder than it was in past and prospect camps will be more important.

Capital is still without a doubt the best DC area club and will likely only be behind M&D and Heros in recruiting results for DMV clubs.

Remembering all of the talk about BLC etc….. did the 27s that went to M&D and Hero’s not make Blue or did they just choose to go? Given the most recent rankings definitely an interesting conversation.

27 Blues are a decent team but not top tier like M&D or Hero’s. One cut below. Still the best in D.C. but behind the top Baltimore/NY teams.

The BLC players who went on to M&D and Heros did not try out for Capital

Wow! Thanks that’s interesting. Curious why they chose not to? Any insight?

Don't know if this happened with those girls, but generally when if you move to M&D or Heros, they ask you to practice with them several times in the summer before tryouts and tryouts are often a formality (if they are even held at all). These girls likely had their offers before Cap tryouts were even held.

I know the Heros attacker from California who joined the same year didn't attend Heros tryouts.

Why won’t MDU or SW have better or same recruiting results than Capital, just logically right in same tier in rankings?

SW probably will at least for the 27 class. MDU will likely be a bit behind driven by a) club reputation b) parent demographics
