| I wonder if NL still has the 26 team for girls who maybe would play up? |

Anyone else go through moments of excitement about next fall to down in the dumps because you feel like this is all rigged and its all about club brand or who knows who?
The frustrating part for me is it seems like over the last 7 years of playing club, no actual game results or how they played matter at all. Seems its either about what you do from this point through summer or what all star events you happen to get invited to |
Club brand and connections have a ton to do with it. If Capital Blue isn't an option then you have sacrifice and look north. |
If by “isn’t an option” you mean “you do not make Capital Blue” then I am not so sure a MD club to the north is an option either. |
Does club brand matter? Of course it does. It helps to get your foot in the door. But at the end of the day, your DD has to perform in front of the coaches. You can think of the last few years as building a resume so your DD is able to be invited to these events in front of evaluators. |
Correct. What you did grades 2-9 don’t mean anything. Why should they? |
Those years mean a lot, but you wouldn't understand any of that. A glaring example of everything wrong with lacrosse in the DMV |
| I'm not sure it's rigged, but you definitely need to follow the path of working hard to get on the top travel teams when the girls are young. Also need to go to a private school and practice with certain people around the DMV so your daughter is a known commodity. It all builds from there and these are the girls that get into the top events which further elevates their status. The reason it may feel rigged is because the people that know the blueprint don't share it. Why would they? When you do learn it, it's too late. These moves are being done as early as 5th/6th grade so parents can position their kids into the right schools and lacrosse programs. |
Solid post. |
Can you explain? Who are the results in earlier years supposed to matter to? |
Start by being better than other players at a young age, which will get you a spot on a top travel team. Then, be among the best players on a top team, which will eventually get you name recognition and invitations to top events. The secret is being very good at lacrosse, and having the means to play it year round from a relatively young age. I really don't think it is more complicated than that, and I don't think private school is necessary to achieve the desired result. |
| Private school gets you in the top lacrosse leagues where you can really improve playing with and against top players. Public school lacrosse isn’t even close. |
Agreed. Some of the top public school kids wouldn’t even start on some of the better privates. Not a knock, just reality. |
