Poor lady. This is so sad.

Juvenile crime record dating back to age 12, charged as an adult with a violent crime at age 16, spends 20 years in prison, picks up where he left off, despite having a job and somewhere to live.

Had he been made to serve his full sentence he would have still been in prison for another eleven years. Thank the judge, prosecutor and parole board.

Recall that some prisons were releasing more prisoners due to COVID and crowding. I wonder if that played a role here, as he was released in 2020.

Possibly. But separate from parole at 85-90% of his sentence in 2020 was an 11 year charge he was allowed to serve concurrently. Had that been consecutive instead, he’d have been locked up for another decade. That wasn’t Covid, that was the judges and prosecutors 20 years ago.

Criminal justice reform is deadly to women.

Two years after being out he snaps and does something this brazen or this another Jesse Matthew?

What’s terrifying is what if he was clever enough to sign up for Uber or Lyft around the campus.

This is going to keep happening. It’s what we want.

He was put away at age 16 or 17 for 20yrs - that’s a lot for a non-fatal kidnapping (completely deserved, but compared to light sentences we see elsewhere …) . This is a broken human.

The only reason this is getting the press it is and the law enforcement manpower (on a holiday weekend they immediately ran DNA on his shoes!) is because her family is filthy rich and politically connected. Otherwise these apathetic city police departments wouldn’t give a damn. There are probably hundreds of missing women in that region who didn’t get even 1% of this sort of response.

This is fact. I haven’t seen anyone on here dispute this. If this was any of the women from the apartment complex that said the guy in jail was a creeper, the cops would have said wait 48 hours to file a missing persons report…she’s probably on a bender, getting high blah blah. I am glad for her family that the police investigated this immediately. I just wish that happened for all of us. I hope they find her soon, he couldn’t have taken her too far based on the timeline.

We know he was at least stealing credit cards, as that was the basis for the other charges this week. We know the women in his brother's apartment complex propositioned them for sex for $100. Who knows if they'll be able to trace anything else to him or not. Has there been a confirmation as to whether he was the same individual in the same black SUV that the U of Memphis girls' cross country team reported?

Did they stumble upon a serial killer?

I don't even take an uber without matching the driver's face and sending a picture to my DH. I almost always am on the phone with him with facetime on.

I prefer a registered legit taxi service and even then I am never without my pepper spray.

I would like to think that Uber drivers would be vetted a little more closely...

Accused of rape and assault at an even younger age.

Isn’t it well documented they’re not? And perps use other people’s identity to get approved, things like that.
