I can't believe how many people are victim blaming. Having lived in Memphis (I didn't know her) and a runner myself, I also ran early because the humidity is horrible. This is so terrible to read about.

Oh christ, sometimes it is about just about avoiding the heat and having the time in a busy day (hence early runs). I ran 7 and at a time was very into it. I also had a training partner I did my long runs with. I never 'talked the talked' or thought it was a badge of honor and that was a lifetime ago--my late 20s/early 30s. Running is great for the mental health, very therapeutic.

This was a horrific murder/kidnapping. I can't imagine what the family and community is going through. I think we can stop blaming the victim now.
