How long did it take you to see results on IF?

Anonymous
I’ve being doing 16:8 12-8 for 2 weeks and am feeling great in terms of bloat, but I’m up 4 lbs. I have about 35 lbs to lose so it’s not because there is nothing to lose. How long did it take you to see results/did you gain at first?

Never. I didn't lose weight by skipping a meal or by modified fasting every other day. DH similar results.

OP, in addition to the above, restrict your calories (1400 if your goal weight is 140 as an example, 1200 for 120 .. not lower than 1200 though). Do this for 4 consecutive days, then have a cheat day where you eat what you want, whatever you have felt deprived not eating. Something to look forward to. Then, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Think also you would have better results if you fasted from 5pm or 6pm to 8am or 9am

Are you working out in the morning? I think working out in a fasted state is a big part of IF.

Make lunch your bigger meal. I know that is hard for a lot of us with families and who work out of the home, but it means you are in a fasted state longer.

Are you slimmer? If so, stop looking at the number on the scale and continue fasting.

I feel far less bloated, but it’s only been a couple weeks so doubtful about slimmer.

2 Weeks is nothing....come back in 2 months and report back. And make sure not to go overboard when not fasting, keep carbs as low as possible.

Key thing - what does your diet look like during your eating hours?

Are you also doing low carb as recommended by Dr. Fung who is the current leader in the IF area? Here is his book if you need it: https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Guide-Fasting-Intermittent-Alternate-Day/dp/1628600012 I ask as I lost 35 lbs using Dr. Fung's method in 4 months using 16:8, eating lower carb (under 50 grams/day), and strength training. The IF really helped accelerate the weight loss as I only started it the last 2 months of keto, and I lost more in the last 2 months than when I started. IF is great with low carb.

My sister tried IF while eating her normal diet and did not have any success, which makes sense if you read Dr. Fung's other book about insulin resistance - https://www.amazon.com/Obesity-Code-Unlocking-Secrets-Weight/dp/1771641258/ref=pd_sim_14_1/135-5139920-2653339?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=1771641258&pd_rd_r=8381649f-4ef5-11e9-81ea-71d290bf4808&pd_rd_w=rqk5D&pd_rd_wg=3ZGcs&pf_rd_p=90485860-83e9-4fd9-b838-b28a9b7fda30&pf_rd_r=K2P3C1AVM2F960YA2T1Q&psc=1&refRID=K2P3C1AVM2F960YA2T1Q.

IF is not magic. It limits your eating window and will make you less hungry in the mornings which, in theory, should help you to eat less calories. However, if you are still eating the same number of calories you always ate, but just in a shorter time frame now, you won't lose weight. At the end of the day weight loss always comes down to calories in and calories out.

try tracking you r calories for a few weeks to see where you are at.

About a month while eating keto (under 15-20 carbs per day)
