How long did it take you to see results on IF?

nothing wrong with carbs. As long as you are eating in an appropriate calorie range you can eat whatever the hell you want.

16-8 is useless for weight loss. You will not see results ever unless you cut down on calories. Even if you go 24 hours you will not see any results if after 24 hours you eat a ton. You are doing it to allow yourself to eat what you want in your eating hours. And maybe more than you ate before as you are up 4 lbs in 2 weeks? You most likely have some insulin resistance which is making weight loss more difficult than for people without it. Most likely you are getting your insulin resistance a bit under control and hence feeling good. 24 will be even better for that purpose. Combination is needed, paleo, keto, WW, whatever works for you, but IF without losing calorie intake? Never, you will never see a weight loss.

PP, Ive always wondered about this. If you’re on a restricted calorie diet (I am doing 1200 mix per day), are you “supposed” to have a cheat day once in a while? I have heard that your body gets used to the lower calories and that you should have a cheat meal or even a cheat day once a week but I’m not sure if thats true.

You not need a cheat day for weight loss. it is more for the mental break from dieting because too much restriction is tough and can lead to a binge.

You DO not need a cheat day for weight loss. it is more for the mental break from dieting because too much restriction is tough and can lead to a binge.

The science is still out on if and how IF works. I lost 20 lbs on 16:8 and have kept it off for 6 months.
There is lots of science showing keto and paleo are dangerous, and hard to stick with long term.

2 weeks in IF. No changes to food. Now I have reduced the carbs and the weight is melting. I do not want to do 'no carb'. I will always eat nutritious food, and eat till I am satiated. IF works and is easy.

I am on 3rd month with IF 16:8. In fact it’s better than 20:4 because insulin remains steady. Lost 20lb. I look completely different now.

Well, yes. Eventually all diets expect you to reduce calories, exercise etc.,but IF is more doable than other diets.

I have reduced carbs before (Atkins, South Beach etc) as well and then went on a carb binge if I ate a bite of bread. Going without carbs showed great results at first but then it was easy to slide back. Any holiday or celebration and I not only stuffed my face, but stuffed it like a fiend.

With IF there is NO carb deprivation or a big problem with being hungry. Carbs are good if you choose the right ones. In IF I only had to take care about eating nutritious foods, and I eat till I was satisfied and full. The carbs helps to keep me full. In terms of reducing carbs - I think I am actually substituting good carbs for bad carbs. In any case, IF has worked for me and kept my blood sugar stable. Since the rule is mainly to eat in an 8 hour period, it is very easy to shift these hours around. I am able to go out and eat for any meal and in any restaurant. For me IF also automatically meant a reduction in calories. I cannot eat 3 whole meals in 8 hours. I am too stuffed most of the time.

I was never a terrible eater (no soda and chips for me). So for a skinny fat person like me, IF has actually shown results quickly and I am seeing the belly fat, armpit fat and the fat on the flanks reducing. I have lost 8 lbs in less than 6 weeks on IF, and I do not feel as if I am on a diet.

I am above pp. I am not saying keto is not wrong. What is wrong is all the processed crap we eat that is high in carbs and who knows what. So If can work, if you realize you should be eating french fries in your eating window and pasta and rice....But, if you have two pieces of toast with your proper meal, you are probably doing ok. If you add some high fibers carbs, sweet potatoes, bananas, oats, beans, etc you are clearly fine. I think carbs have a bad rep because food industry is making them artificial food. Real carbs are awesome.

LOL I'd consider reducing carbs to be a change to food. I'd also bet the reduction in carbs is the reason you are losing weight, not the fact that you are doing IF.
