How long did it take you to see results on IF?

Ugh. My shorthand obviously confused you. I started seeing results in 2 weeks doing IB with no changes in food. Then, after the 2 weeks were over, I reduced bad carbs and replaced with good carbs and the weight was shed more quickly. I think without changing anything in your food, your calorie consumption will still be less in IF because you are trying to eat 3 meals in 8 hours. If you drop your soda and junk food habit, then you lose more. If you exchange bad carbs for good carbs, you lose even more etc.

This (bolded part) is not inherently true. Calories are calories, three meals is three meals. Unless you reduce the size or quantity of meals, than it's the same amount of calories. Some people claim they haven't changed food during IF, but they've either cut out snacks (including wine at night), or they've reduced the calories consumed due to time restrictions (or being full during their eat times, which is still a reduction).

Eating 1800 calories in 8 hours or 12, is still 1800 calories. It's not magic. Something always changes.

So tired of people making it sound like IF is the end all be all. On the flip side others claim they gained weight doing IF- again weight gained has nothing to do with IF; it has everything to do with eating too many calories.

people typically lose with IF because they have hard start and stop eating times. Which typically leads to not eating breakfast, thus, reducing calories, provided they don't just have a bigger lunch. It also typically means a hard stop time on eating which means no late night/after dinner snacking, again, reducing calories.

I didn’t find IF helpful. Very sadly for me I have to neurotically calorie count.

NP. I started IF and low calorie at the same time. I am pretty sure I would not have seen any weightloss from IF only. But it does help to reduce calories. Unless someone compensates during their feeding window.

Here is what I lost in one day. 24 hour fast. Yesterday morning I had a romaine and chicken salad with cheese and dressing. I ate nothing till this morning. Scale shows 2 lbs weight loss. I didn't have a BM yesterday. If I don't overeat today and tomorrow, I think 1 lbs weight loss will stick.

Good luck. Typically it doesn't work like that but maybe you're different.

I lose 2 lbs after 24 to 30 hr fast every time.
Alas, as I wrote in another thread, the weight comes back soon even though I maintain a calorie deficit. So yes, good luck, but don't get discouraged if the weight comes back because there are so many other benefits to fasting.

How many calories do you think you burn in a day and actually lose? For me, it would be impossible to truly lose a lb per day. But maybe you are running a marathon and eating nothing. This (a pound per day) is impossible for an average person.

I don't know how many calories I burn? I am pretty active, but not for last two weeks. Too much work and deadlines. So, I do have muscles. I do yoga regularly(again not for the last 2 weeks). Normally I work out 4 times a week. Light cardio and yoga. I am definitely not running anything. Yesterday I drove a lot, so probably less calories burned than normal. I mean, I said I think 1 lbs will stick. We will see in a week or so.

I was just replying to a pp above. That said it is impossible to lose a lb per day. I never said I lost 2 lbs, just that after 24 hour fast scale was down 2 lbs. Might be up 2lbs tomorrow. I was asked how many calories I think I burn? I have no idea.

For me as a man IF works amazingly well. I do mostly 16:8 and avoid processed sugar. I have seen that even at times if I eat 5lb food, my body burns within 48 hours all excesss lbs. lost 20lbs in 3 months
