What do you have to do to maintain in your goal weight as far as workouts and eating? Do you generally have to watch what you eat?
**** I'm 5'7 and my goal weight is 115-118. I do have to watch what I eat to maintain there. I also have to run at least 5 miles 5-6 times a week. I hate running but at least it's a relatively quick work out. Any advice? It's annoying all the people who say "just eat intuitively." If I don't count calories, I gain weight, like most people. |

5'6". Goal weight is 140 and reasonably.
At that weight, I feel healthy, clothes fit well, and I can still enjoy food without restricting. To maintain that I eat mostly non processed foods but eat sweets or other less healthy foods on a semi regular basis. Working out has little to do with weight for me, but it keeps me fit. |

5'7"
155 I have to eat no carbs. |

5' 3.5''. I'm 123 now (although that's with really watching what I eat -- if I eat a little more freely, I'm more like 127). I'd like to be 120 lbs.
FWIW I'm female. I think people should specify gender, since it impacts what weight works. |
| 5’8” and realistically, after 3 kids, 130lbs. Goodbye forever young body! |

Also 5'6" and 140.
Since I passed the 40 year mark, I've been hovering around 145. I'm not unhappy, but I'd like to be 140. However, I already exercise (yoga, weights, and cardio like long walks or rower) and eat pretty well (few processed foods, carbs, little to no sweets, and no alcohol). I'm not willing to go farther than that right now. |
| 5'0" and 120. I know that's higher than you'd think but I'm fine with not being a stick. I'm currently 140 with two chronic illnesses, one of which is Hashimoto's and the other requires Prednisone so a lot's working against me. I just want to be healthy and feel comfortable in my skin again. |

115lbs at 5'7", OP? I can't imagine a scenario where you wouldn't look positively gaunt at that weight.
I'm 5'8" and look my healthiest somewhere around 130. |
yup BMI 18 seek help |

I'm 5'1" and my goal weight is the same as yours: around 115.
When not pregnant I've weighed as little as 100 and as much as 135. I'm basing my goal weight on what it was when I felt the best in the past, but I'm not fixated on the number. Currently 128. In order to get where I want, I need to lift heavy weights and do HIIT classes 4-5 times a week. Keep my calories between 1400-1800 most days of the week, and limit sugar, carbs, and alcohol. |
| 5'7 135. To maintain this, I have to workout for 60min/5 days cardio and weights. 7-8 hours of sleep nightly. Diet consists of lean meats, vegetables, healthy carbs and a sweet treat each day. If I take a daily 30 minute walk on top of the exercise, I can pretty much eat what I want. |
This isn't advice you are going to want to hear (though, I suspect maybe you know it already)... But, you have two choices. Keep counting calories, restricting, and exercising in a way that you don't enjoy. And stay thin (I would guess 115 at your height even looks "quite" thin). OR, allow your body to be a natural weight and eat what feels right (that's what's intuitive) and move your body in ways that make you feel strong and that bring you pleasure (bike rides, walks, dance class, etc) "Everyone I know that really enjoys food and exercise and general good health without too much effort, also accepts and likes their body at their natural set point. BTW, I am not exactly this person myself. I am 5'1" and naturally muscular. I liked being 98lbs through my 20s but I also had stress fractures and no period. I now can be 104-5 with effort (but still being healthy, getting my period etc.) or 108-10 with not much effort at all (I always exercise but drink and eat "fully"). Since the lower weight can happen without sacrificing health, I'm sticking with that for now. But I know that my body likes being a bit heavier. |
Bodies are different. At 5'7, if I weighed 130, I'd look gaunt. |
Umm, that's a BMI of 19.8. Why are you complaining? That's borderline underweight. |
Are you arguing that OP's goal weight isn't crazy? |
