S. Carolina double murder

My husband and I were at odds here. He said that Mallory's boyfriend (I forget his name) should've slugged "Timmy" and told him to eff off. Then they all call a cab and let him drive himself drunk.

However, I said they are kids, dumb, don't make good decisions. Part of being young is making mistakes. However this is just extreme and deadly lessons.

You know they all went along with Paul's shenanigans because they were rich, parents gave them alcohol, etc.

If he wasn't rich, NONE of those kids (including the girlfriend) would've given him the time of day. He was such a gross dork.

I'm an SC native and most of the population there has had no access to anything resembling a fair justice system (including fair banking, property rights, etc) for most of its history, and many would make credible arguments that they still don't. It's part of America but totally out of compliance with the Constitution for much more time than not. Unfairness and oppression are its defining characteristic. Notions of southern "grace" or "honor" are the kabuki on top of systemic, state-sponsored violent terror. Driving to the beach through that part of the country gives me the heebeejeebees, and I'm white.

I had two lawyers from SC and they were Pigs. The DC bar was not surprised of my complaint against one, and didn't doubt me for a second.

Their theory about the weird angle is that the shooter was leaning down to switch guns when Paul surprised him by stumbling out of the feed room. Other than that, it’s all straight from the forensic evidence.

Dang

He literally hunted his family at the hunting lodge.

He treated them like animals. Shooting Maggie in the legs with a riffle to take her down then going for the kill shot is evil.

DC Bar Association complaint office knew one of the SC lawyers quite well.

I’ve been watching YT clips of this trial but specifically Alec(x). He really is something else. I can’t stop watching even though I know the verdict.

Hope they have the death sentence in SC. Beyond belief.

The You Tube link didn’t work. I was hoping to watch it to understand the angles. I fully believe he is guilty but was confused by the descriptions of all the various shots fired.

He was sentenced to two life terms over a month ago.

I am so glad Alex Murdaugh is locked up for life.
I was sick in bed during his trial so I got to watch the entire proceeding in full.

It is not only despicable how he gunned down both his wife + child, but the way he stole $$ from disadvantaged people just makes me ill.
Starting w/his former housekeeper’s sons as well as a quadriplegic, an orphan, etc.!! 😡

Not to mention all the ways he tried to superimpose all his “power” unto the kids that were in his son’s boat that killed Mallory Beach.
He is the dirtiest SOB ever and should be on death row.
……………………
I know Paul (his murdered son) acted irresponsible both during and after the fatal boat crash, however he must have been a very troubled kid w/a Father who was a pill addict as well as a common hustler.
To live w/a Father who would murder you for his own gain speaks volumes.
Paul likely knew his Father loved his older brother Buster much more.

No one should die by the hand of their own parent and the fact that Paul did makes me feel more empathy than I probably should.

I think Buster should be penalized for providing Paul w/the phony I.D. which allowed his little brother into bars as well as purchase liquor illegally.
I find him kind of an idiot for supporting his Father when it is clearly obvious to everyone (but him!) that his Dad is a rotten scoundrel.
Even Alex’s brother Randy knows he is not innocent as he claims in court.

In other news >>
How in the world is Creighton Waters only 52…..??!
I thought for sure he was at least, mid-sixties!

Great prosecutor though!!

Yes, it is clearly obvious from the last video from the night of the deadly crash that Paul was drunker than an actual skunk.
No way should any of those kids agreed to ride in a boat w/him that clearly inebriated.

They should have let Paul drive the boat back to his house and they should have called one of their parents or taken an Uber home.
Possibly prior to boarding the boat however, maybe Paul had conceded that he would let one of the other boys man the boat back home then he could have went back on his word once he got everyone on board.
Only the group on that boat know what really happened.
Who are we to judge??

That tragic, fateful night has affected each + every one of those kids for the rest of their lives.
Sadly Mallory paid her life in full for it.

This should send a clear message to any parent out there who has teenagers.
Drinking irresponsibly is not just a rite of passage when young…..
It can also impair rational thinking which can save a life.
