If she does, good for her. She probably needs to get political asylum first. Can't wait to hear the dirt.

as long as there are family members to threaten she won't talk

Sad but true

Or perhaps something to do with the positive test and the real story behind it? Out of all of them, I like Trusova would be the one to spill the beans on what has been going on in Eteri’s group, she actually left for a while so there’s a history.

She probably meant that Eteri knew she wouldn't get gold on jumps alone but kept feeding her with false hope.

LOL yes "everyone has a gold medal but meeeee!" The Queen of Scots has a bonny son - and I am but a barren fig tree.

Come on Sasha. Jumps are awesome but the rest of the program isn't there and she isn't even pretending to try. It's very nice for her to get silver but she's NOT champion material. She just isn't. Anna is a way more complete skater and great PR. Well behaved, great English, cute, gives nice interviews. She'll do well.

They should not be judged by their looks and English.

Yes true. Trusova’s skating reminds me of American gymnasts floor routine like jam packed with insane tumbling passes but without much of artistry/ gracefulness throughout the routine. They are beyond amazing but can’t say graceful? Trusova does quads after quads and such a powerful performance while Shcherbakova’s routine looked total package with beautiful jumps and artistry.

It's their once in a lifetime chance to show what they can do. If it's very competitive in the US, don't worry, other countries will take you if you can meet the Olympic requirements. You don't even have to speak their language. Same with the US, we take in potential Olympians all the time.

Yet, some of us choose to concentrate on Ms. Gu.
Looks, talents, athletic and smart. Many people hate that.

Why would I hate the looks/talent/smarts? I just genuinely have a problem with her attitude and her loyalty. In this case because of China’s current relations with us and also because she’s batting for a communist country while she grew up with all of her freedoms here. Generally I don’t care about these things but she rubbed me the wrong way, especially after her interview.

I think skating should have retired "Bolero" years ago. It belongs to one couple - Torvill and Dean.

Al of Eteris athletes and Eteri should be banned for doping. Valieva is 15; she didn’t dope herself. ROC already had a second chance. They shouldn’t have gotten a third.

Totally agree. I liked her short program a lot but not sure Bolero was the best vehicle for her.

if she is found to have been doping when this all is finalized, does the first Olympic quad landing go to Trusova?

Retire Nessum Dorma and Tosca and Carmen while you're at it.

Whoa- I had no idea she had moved on from ilia to David Pelletier!

I tell ya, once you’ve had an Olympic champion, no one else will do.

I just found this out a couple weeks ago. I watched the first episode of that peacock docuseries about the big mess in SLC (that I think Tara executive produced). I got interested in what had happened to all of them.

Jamie cheated on David with her partner, a hockey player, on a Canadian reality show. She is now married to the hockey player. No idea how David and Katia met or why she and Ilia broke up. So, so interesting

I thought David cheated first with Tessa Virtue, and then Jamie cheated with the hockey player.

Nooo! I won't accept Tessa Virtue being with anyone other than Scott Moir

I'm glad they are retired because their shipper fans are horrible. The way they harassed his fiancee was disgusting.

No. T&D's Bolero was good, until T&D ran it into the ground with their billion performances of it. I'd welcome a fresh take on Bolero. Songs don't belong to certain teams.

But, I am so sad that she alone is going to take the fall when this was a team effort.

Be sad for the Japanese skaters, who are being denied the placements and moments they deserve because of Russian drugging.

Blame the IOC for letting the farce of the ROC compete in the first place

Like what is the proper response now? Are they going to ban ALL Russians now, unless they go the route of competing for a different country with dual citizenship? I’m just wondering how this is going to turn out now? In the Olympics and other international competitions.

Seriously Russia, I guess you can hold your own competition and dope up your athletes as much as you want now.

LOL if you ban Russian skaters, they will all show up next Olympics representing places like Uzbekistan and Lithuania, where they will be welcome with open arms.

Also it comes down to $$$ of course. No one wants to host the Olympics anymore because it’s expensive, running billions of dollars above the estimated budget. Every game in the last 50 years has gone over budget and IOC receives fewer bids with each games. I read Russia was considering to submit its bid to host 2036 Summer Olympics. No wonder IOC is reluctant to punish Russia properly.
It’s disgusting but I think money is one of the top reason why things never change.

These scandals have to be taking a financial toll as well, though. Ratings are way down for this Olympics which will ultimately impact the amount of money any network (American and others) will be willing to pay for the exclusive rights to broadcast the games. Not sure when NBC's current contract expires, but it'll be interesting to see the terms of the next one.

The ratings are down because people rightly don’t want to support the communists and don’t want to watch an olympic broadcast that acts as if Chinese genocide against the Uighur people doesn’t exist. The US government and other free countries also executed a diplomatic boycott against the Chinese.
Scandals have always been been part of the Olympics but people watched. Once these are over and the games return to countries not committing genocide they’ll be great to watch again!

I doubt the average potential Olympic viewer knows or cares about genocide. Ratings are way down because 1) we're in a pandemic and the idea of even holding these games are silly, and you don't have the usual boost of spectators being excited about traveling and packing the stands, and 2) the primary audience is not watching live tv, especially NBC's pathetic broadcast coverage, and they're also not going to pay for yet another streaming service specifically to watch NBC's online coverage of the Games. Put the content on Hulu or another service as it airs, and NOT as a premium add-on, and ratings would be higher.

NBC asks you to pay for premium service, and then stuffs it with ads anyway. I'm not paying to see ads. Plus, the figure skating coverage is terrible. Tanith is the only commentator worth having. Get rid of Johnny and Tara.
