Eileen Gu is not the only US born competing for another country. Many have done it and many will do it. People go where there is an opportunity to shine. It's their once in a lifetime chance to show what they can do. If it's very competitive in the US, don't worry, other countries will take you if you can meet the Olympic requirements. You don't even have to speak their language. Same with the US, we take in potential Olympians all the time.

Yet, some of us choose to concentrate on Ms. Gu.
Looks, talents, athletic and smart. Many people hate that.

This is the saddest f-ing Olympic final ever. The tortured favorite crumbles as the cameras click away. The gold medalist sitting alone stony-faced for a good long while. The silver medalist screaming and tantruming to the point she almost had to be talked off the ledge. Kaori not quite understanding what to do with her face. There's not a molecule of joy in the house at this medal ceremony. It's like a funeral. EVERYONE is miserable.

The first words from Eteri to Kamila as she walked off the ice: "Why did you stop fighting? After the axel, you just stopped fighting. Can you explain why?"

The only woman comforting Kamila for a while was a Russian TV Channel 1 manager who hugged her as she walked off.

The joke is on Trusova, because she could have won gold if she straightened her leg during her spiral, and presented to the judges for 0.25 seconds instead of hurling herself between quads. I'm excited that she landed her jumps and got them mostly rotated, but her skating in between jumps was not even close to the level of the other skaters. I can't believe her PCS was as high as it was!

The most devastating thing I’ve seen. There are a lot of falls and tears in this sport at every level, but my God I’ve never seen an event unravel like this. F**k Eteri forever, she should be in jail.

LOL yes "everyone has a gold medal but meeeee!" The Queen of Scots has a bonny son - and I am but a barren fig tree.

Come on Sasha. Jumps are awesome but the rest of the program isn't there and she isn't even pretending to try. It's very nice for her to get silver but she's NOT champion material. She just isn't. Anna is a way more complete skater and great PR. Well behaved, great English, cute, gives nice interviews. She'll do well.
