Agreed, but which woman or PoC be a suitable replacement for McConnell? |
If he can remember where he put it. Along with the car keys |
Because that isn't what happened in 2016. Why not play by the rules the same leaders made at the time? |
Maybe watch Trump's Fox interview from this evening and let's talk about valves and smelts. |
Like I said, if they wanted a truce, they know what to do. |
| RGBs legacy now includes “how about term limits people” ? |
| Gee conservatives shout “too soon, you ghouls!” if we talk about gun control in the weeks after a shooting. And yet the GOP was already in motion on replacing RBG before the morning paper hit the doorstep. |
Lol. A truce? Politics is war by other means. McConnell isn't dumb enough to believe there's ever going to be any sort of truce. |
You know exactly what I mean, so don't pretend you don't and that McConnell isn't making deliberate choices knowing what the consequences of each path are. |
I love how on Thursday, Donald Trump started the 1776 Commission to remind everyone how amazing the U.S. is: "Our mission is to defend the legacy of America’s founding, the virtue of America’s heroes, and the nobility of the American character." "To grow up in America is to live in a land where anything is possible, where anyone can rise, and where any dream can come true — all because of the immortal principles our nation’s founders inscribed nearly two and a half centuries ago." "The only path to national unity is through our shared identity as Americans" "Our youth will be taught to love America with all of their heart and all of their soul. We will save this cherished inheritance for our children, for their children, and for every generation to come. " Trump supporters today: "Politics is war." "There will never be any truce." "There are no principles, only power." And only a few years ago: "Character matters." |
Sorry, I really don't. "I'm telling you [opposing political side], if you exercise the political power you currently hold in a legal manner to advance the agenda of your side, just wait until we have and exercise political power!" I'm pretty sure McConnell knows that if and when Dems get political power necessary to push their agenda, they'll marshall that power to the maximum they are able (except as they are unable to cobble together internal coalitions or fear blowback from moderate voters) and any promises of "restraint" now are illusory and should be ignored. I'm pretty sure if Dems take the Senate they will give less than two shots about how the republican minority feels about their actions. |
Kennedy was there longer and Thomas has been also. |
| When dem wins, we will pack the court. |
You know who loses when the government is just one big power play? The American people. |
No, that's not how it works. These are choices they are making. These deals used to be made all the time. Now they choose not to. You don't have to make a deal for something in the future. You can exchange current values. Trump and McConnell don't make those deals either. Their choice. He is deciding where his interests lie. They don't lie with making deals, so he makes none. He will keep doing that for as long as it is in his interest to do so. |
