Magruder HS Shooting

I have no doubt that statement is factually true, however we don’t know the circumstances. The chief said he “did not share”. Was he even conscious? Could he share?

Blaming the shot child who may die is awful. The adults did not perform well, esp in light of recent repeated threats and you know, a SHOOTING in the school. The lame CYA and deflection and NONE calling for SROs is astonishing.

McKnight now saying that the pandemic is why this kid tried to murder a classmate in school.

The victim may have been in fear of the shooter given that he just tried to KILL him.

It's my understanding he was in and out.

Odd police scanner said he said he was shot. Told nurse.

The chief is lying through his teeth.

So now McKnight is saying SROs were removed prior to the pandemic alluding to the fact that they now should reevaluate the program based on everything that's happening now with the pandemic.

I get that identifying and finding the suspect took some time.

But to not directly call for or announce the even temporary return of the SROs, which Alexandria did w/o a shooting, given guns at GB, Wooton and Wheaton in addition to the shooting just on Friday alone?!!! That is ONE DAY in MCPS.

The insinuation is that the pandemic led to a mental health crisis which is what caused this student to order a gun online, assemble it, bring it to school and attempt to murder another student. Absent the pandemic everything would be peachy.

Reporter said the initial call was a stabbing. Police chief lied to try and cover that up.

Something that needs to be mentioned is that an SRO will be a lot more familiar with kids/families who have prior invlovement with law enforcement. They can check in with more students and keep an eye and anyone showing any signs or previous trouble.

Teachers and admin don’t usually have this knowledge. When they pulled the SRO’s didn’t really replace it with any of the functions/skills that the SRO’s brought with them.

+1 Bring back the SROs. If PG county is good with them, then why is MCPS so against them. Are people in MCPS just snowflakes? Yes, they are I guess.

Because when on lockdown, you can't leave the classroom.
