+1. Not cool. I can’t imagine Beth would be up for a senate race so soon.

Agreed--I feel like nothing was revealed. Other than maybe moving the Toby/Kate divorce story forward and wrapping up the Deja/Malik relationship (for now).

Randall is way too thin-skinned to ever be POTUS. Senator maybe but POTUS....no way.

We learned young Randall had Presidential aspirations.

I think that's a reach, no indication of any of that yet.

Yep, it has been mentioned 3 times specifically. As a very young boy, when he was getting Kevin/Kate out of trouble with the cop, and when talking with Rebecca.

Loved Cat Stevens at the end. I grew up in the '70s and from the first guitar chords I knew what song it was and how well it fit. All along, the music on this show has really complemented the writing, which has been uneven. But when both the writing and the music are great, I remember why I've stuck with the show for six years.

He's being personally courted by the retiring Senator from PA (they are still in Philly, right?) to run for the Senate. I'm more surprised he has that confidence because that's not really a trait I really associate with Randall, who went temporarily blind from his anxiety once.

But maybe he's become more self-aware of his own abilities and strengths? He was in therapy at one point - maybe that helped?

I thought it was fascinating that he quietly told Rebecca that - that she was the only one he felt he could share that with.

Randall is definitely too enmeshed with his mom. All he needed was to see her light up at the prospect and his mind was made up. Beth should have been the first to hear of this news.

But that was just in this last episode.

I missed a few thing last night -- How did Deja get from the cabin in the middle of nowhere to Boston? And if it was Thanksgiving, why wasn't Malik home with his parents.

This didn't make sense to me a few weeks back -- Malik's baby momma was living in Boston with her parents, didn't they live in Philadelphia? Or is that why Malik went to school in Boston? And Malik has been the main caregiver, but it seemed like suddenly the baby momma was acting like he didn't know what the baby's needs were. The whole storyline has so many holes.

So it’s okay for Randall to make a huge decision to run for Senate without consulting with Beth or the kids but it’s not okay for Toby to make the lone decision to move to SF?

Not with the way he looked at Madison at the very end of this episode (that's also a door that can reopen.)

Agree. That was definitely a look.

Or his kid!

He didn't decide anything. He knew what the Senator wanted to talk to him about, so he agreed to a meeting to hear him out. He'll go home Monday evening and tell Beth all about it and decide together, I'm sure.

I almost hope it happens at this point so I can just be glad I don't have to watch the show anymore. <stomping away like a toddler>

Yes, everyone is jumping to conclusions. Randall is NOT Toby.

If he and Beth have a fight about it, we’ll know then.
