He has been on it for quite a while, and thinks it's the best. Helped him lose the stubborn belly fat, cleansed him off sugar cravings and helped him get rid of allergies. He has a lot of energy, works out every day etc.
I tried Weight Watchers a few years ago, and it worked for me, until I stopped doing it.....then all the weight came back. I am an "oldish" single mom with two small kids, so not much free time. And I love fruits and not a big meat eater. What would you suggest? Thanks! |
| If you love fruit and are not a big meat eater, doing kept would be tough. Honestly the best thing you can do is eat whole, unprocessed foods, focus on proteins and vegetables, keep your portions in check and stay hydrated. I speak from experience - diets might work in that you'll lose weight, but they're hard to stick to. Focusing on whole foods is much, much broader and easier to stick to and you can do it for the rest of your life. My two cents! |
| You can focus on whole food with a keto diet! It is harder if you don't like meat, but the point of it is to eat about 75%fat/20% protein/5% carbs so a ton of fruit doesn't really fit into that. I typically eat eggs with avocado or a coconut milk protein shake for breakfast, for lunch a giant salad with dark leafy greens, cucumbers, grilled chicken thighs, oil/vinegar, maybe some cheese; dinner is anything from a taco salad to cava to broiled salmon with veggie sides. A few nights of week I have a glass of red wine, some dark chocolate, berries with whipped cream. It doesn't feel restrictive to me, and I find that eating out and social events are easier than when I was calorie counting. I don't crave sweets or even feel that hungry anymore. |
Yes, thank you, my cousin says the same thing. I am tempted to try it.....since I notice I need protein (chicken, etc since I do not eat read meat at all) to not feel hungry after a meal. WW did work for me though....is Keto healthy? I mean all that fat.....in WW, I liked it that you could eat as much veggies and fruits as you liked. |
| When I did strict Keto, it was the best I felt and looked, and it was certainly the strongest I was in my workouts. It really felt great. But it’s not a “diet” - it’s a lifestyle. Try it out, but don’t view it as a diet, otherwise you’ll gain the weight back when you bring carbs back. I love Keto, but was never able to be 100% committed. It’s more of a “guide” for me now, where I try to avoid sugar and carbs, but I’m not clinical about it. |
+1. I've lost 22lbs on Keto. Been on it for 55 days. I will admit it is a lifestyle. My biggest problem with staying strict on it is that I love fruits. I really miss oranges and grapefruit. I'm doing "dirty" keto but still feel like I'm losing. I also struggle with getting enough fats in. |

What’s dirty keto?
I tried keto and it wasn’t for me. Having success on WW right now. Cutting out so many foods was too stressful for me and I had some weird side effects. Remember that while it may work great for your cousin, it’s not right for everyone. Give it a 3-week trial and see how you feel. |
OP here, thanks PP. I am thinking maybe I should just go back to WW too. I love fruits too much and they are good for you.....whichever I pick, it needs to become a life-style, since I had success with WW, but once I stopped it, the weight came back. Are you doing it on-line, or do you go to meetings? |
| Have lost 25 lbs on WW. All fruits, veg, and even chicken and eggs are 'free,' or zero points. FAR easy to maintain than keto. |
Op here - thanks PP. I lost 18 pounds on it three years ago too....but once I stopped it all came back on....guess I just have to accept that this has to become my forever life-style now.....so long sugar and carbs/ desserts, and ice-cream.....but at least I know that WW is healthy and doable. |
|
Sigh. I guess I have to bite the bullet and go back on WW too.
I had success, either keeping weight off or losing, but when I stopped tracking I gained it all back and almost 20 lbs more. I'm sick about it. I think WW is sustainable and doable and promotes eating a wide variety of healthy foods; I just want to eat whatever I want and be skinny. |
| Any diet is fine for a short while but as soon as you "stop" you'll gain it all back. You need lifestyle changes not fad's. I've been keto (in some form) for 2 years now. I lost 100lbs in the first year and have kept it all off since. I do some intermittent fasting, have higher carbs a few days a week (mostly special occasions), and focus on eating whole foods as much as possible. I just feel better keeping the processed crap out of my diet. |
I think dirty keto is where you don’t count calories or other macros and just eyeball under 20-25 grams of carbs per day. |
| I just inputting some numbers into a Keto diet plan. What does metabolic age mean? I am 45 and it says I am 36. |
| NP here- I’ve done WW successfully twice too but I always felt hungry. Been doing Keto for a month and I can honestly say I’m often not hungry and not obsessing about the next meal. I’ve NEVER felt that way before and I thought people were lying when they said they just didn’t care for sweets. Now I kind of get it. My sweet tooth has gone from raging to way less powerful. I’m a little sketched out honestly by the amount of fat but I’m losing weight and I feel good so I plan to stick with it until the end of 2018 then get some blood work done to make sure everything looks good. I agree you have to do what fits with your preferences and lifestyle. Good luck OP! |
