Settle this debate: PJs in hotel breakfast area

I think it’s rude and trashy, and insist that we all are showered and dressed before going down there. Most of the breakfasts don’t end until 10, and we’re usually up and ready by 8:30 at the latest, so what’s the difference to just wait a few minutes before being presentable. We don’t stay at super-nice places, but even just at a Hampton Inn, people are at least wearing…clothes, right?
they don’t have those breakfasts anymore post Covid. You get a paper bag with stuff instead.

Kids always wear pjs in the evening and early morning at the Hershey Lodge. No clue why.

I’ve seen adults walk into the lobby area or breakfast buffet area in hotel robes at more upscale places. It’s shockingly hilarious.

Not true. I just had a hot breakfast at a Hampton Inn in Ohio a week ago.

It's rude and low class but that's par for the course nowadays.

Same at multiple hotels in California

+1 and I've never seen someone in pjs in a hotel breakfast area

Do adults wear actual “pajamas” though? Doesn’t everyone just wear sporty casual - sweats, joggers, shorts, t-shirt, etc?

Um, yes. Have you never been shopping? Have you never read a magazine?

Read a magazine? About PJs? No. I don’t read magazines about PJs.

I find it hard to believe that most adults wear “pajamas” in 2021. And not just sporty/loungy clothes.

I do! Silk pajama sets are my guilty pleasure.

Haha. No, I would not go to get breakfast at a Hampton Inn lobby in silky PJs.

Fine for kids, definitely not fine for adults!

Just came back from a high end resort hotel and was horrified to see a woman come down to breakfast in the room-issued bathrobe. At least she had pjs underneath. Her hair hadn’t been brushed and was in a messy bun. I didn’t get it. It seems like room service would have been the better option for her.

Lots of us do. I love a good menswear inspired pajama set, or a silk nightgown. And I wouldn’t wear either to breakfast at a hotel.
