Happens to AAs and darker Hispanics all the time. Google it. It also happens in big box stores and not because you are wearing a red top and khaki bottom. |
| Outrageous |
I am white and witness this all of the time. Definition of color blind. |

Kids under 5? Sure. Adults, no.
Even as a hungover 20-something I always dressed for breakfast at hotels. |
Well, I'm white and I've never seen it. See how that works? |
I do, try opening your eyes wider. |
I'm white and it happened to me on a flight the other day, operated by Scandinavian Airlines. Coincidentally, the person who made the assumption I was a flight attendant was an Indian gentlemen, and he meant absolutely no harm. It's just that the SAS flight attendants were blonde, I'm blonde and was standing in the aisle (entertaining my toddler who was seated) and he asked me for a landing card. He then realized what happened and apologized. The fact that it happens in the US to persons of color is different and (can be) offensive, because the assumption stems from a very real divides in socioeconomic status (and thus, job types). Assuming that someone of color is in the service industry is tone deaf at best, and straight up racist at worst. Get your head out of the sand, PP, OR, at least keep quiet. |
| I don't do it but its fine. Vacations are times to let your hair down and relax. |
| If it’s early and if you’re a kid (under 10?) fine. Otherwise no. |
| Only at a place like great wolf lodge. everywhere else no way |
| Please no |
| Please don’t wear PJs to a public area. It isn’t your house. It isn’t your breakfast room. |
| Its fine. |
Nicer hotels have separate eating/drinking spaces for quests with high status. There are usually snacks, drinks, coffee available all day and then a heavy breakfast and happy hour. Outside of US, wine and beer are included without charge. |
