Settle this debate: PJs in hotel breakfast area

Anonymous
For me it's less what they have on vs. any obvious effort. Or lack thereof. Obvious pajamas with hair in a scrunchy and glasses on... you didn't even brush your teeth and are a disgusting person in general.

Just brush your teeth, comb your hair and try to be less animalistic--as someone said above.

The girl wrapped in the hotel duvet is a hilarious visual...

The irony is that we live in a time where people are asked regularly to do things for the greater public good. It used to be taken for granted you put on nicer clothes when going out into public as a sign of respect and courtesy to the larger public and that you were part of a civilized world.

The notion of wearing pajamas to go down to the hotel dining room tacky and not polite and inconsiderate of your fellow travelers. It's like wearing pajamas to the supermarket. It's not polite. It's a sign of selfishness.

Why would I care what other people wear to a lobby breakfast or the supermarket? Of all the things to be worried about in life, this doesn’t even crack the top 1,000.

If you have time to notice and be upset about things like that, you must have a pretty easy life.

Why would you brush your teeth before breakfast?

That said, I’m AA and super conscious that for some people, my very presence as a paying customer rather than a service worker or trespasser is incomprehensible. So I shower and change into something with more structure in the hopes of not being harassed.

OMG. Give ...it...a...break. Because you're black people assume you're a waiter at a buffet breakfast in a Hampton Inn? Really, this race crap needs to just die. No one buys that. You think people would look at you in flip flops, kids in tow, eating eggs and drinking coffee and think you're there to wait on them. That's ridiculous.

Adults and teens should to be dressed but it can be very casual

Young kids I'm OK with pj's as long as they are covered. Different set of rules under 8 IMO

Clearly it's never happened to you. Your privilege is showing.

Had to pause and think and this summer we’ve traveled a lot - and we’ve always gotten dressed to go downstairs for breakfast - last weekend j forgot a toothbrush - and dashed to front desk in my Pj bottoms and a sweatshirt Bc it was dark in my room and I couldn’t find my leggings to change into

1. I hate bras

2. I dress however I want. I happily grocery shop and hit the pharmacy in my braless PJs. I 100% don’t concern myself with others. The opinion of strangers is entirely irrelevant to me. I’m not on this earth to live my life by someone else’s standards of what THEY consider appropriate/trashy/good/bad/what have you. My life’s not built around following popular societal conventions. My life is my own. I follow my own convictions.

It hasn't happened to anybody. Your race card is sticking out of your pocket, btw.

Have you been to Italy? Italians are pigs.

This. Requiring everyone to be showered is over the top. Go down in your sweats, eat, then come up and shower and get dressed for the day.

Why do the Chinese immigrants in my neighborhood all wear their pjs outside? Some men walk around in boxers even.

Where do you live????

What the heck? I'm the European PP (not Italian, to my regret), how'd we get to bashing Italians so quickly? Some of you are beyond help.

Eh, perhaps but in a different way than DCUM parents are snobs. Not wearing PJs in public seems lik a low bar...
