Am I the only one in the world that hates Breaking Bad?

Another woman here and LOVED LOVED LOVED BB.

Hate Bridgerton and anything that has 'bach' in it.

Was coming here to say the same thing! The Wire so highly acclaimed. So many people I know and whose opinions I respect loved it. Could not get into i. Tried 4-5 episodes. Tried two or three times. I am sure it is as great as everyone says, just doesn’t grab me.

Loved Breaking Bad though.

Might I suggest you at least just watch the season of the Wire that focuses on the kids? I didn’t really watch any other season and while I was a little confused at times it is stand alone enough for you to understand what’s going on. It is masterful in terms of pacing, acting and tone. It is also heartbreaking. But it is one of the best examples I’ve seen of how living in poverty can completely change the direction of your life regardless of how smart you are or how hard you try to avoid it. It crushed my soul a little but I found it so thought provoking.

Hated BB. Loved Sopranos and The Wire.

Other than the bathtub scene, what was disgusting about it? I thought it was interesting that there was very little sex and no gore (except that bathtub!). Its magic was the storytelling and writing.

BB is my favorite show— but when I rewatch it, I skip episode 2. Too gratuitously gory, too dark, and unlike the rest of the series.

Yes, me too. Hated Breaking Bad, and hated The Wire. Shows for men.

I am most definitely a woman and those are my two top favorite shows of all time. Did I enjoy the violence - nope. Did I love the complex character profiles and surprisingly beautiful depth of relationships? Yes. And the commentary on worlds that were unfamiliar to me. I thought they were brilliant series the caliber of which doesn't come along often enough.

Woman, here. Only show I've binge watched and watched in its entirety (I really only watch non-fiction bc I'm boring). Amazing acting, casting, writing, directing, etc. Try to stick with it!!!

It was gory but it was so comical too.

Speak for yourself, Sally.

I’m a woman and loved both - they are far better than most of the other fluff on TV these days.

I would rather be locked in a solitary confinement cell than to be made to watch Desperate Housewives type soap opera dramas, or any of the reality TV drivel that so many gals are enthralled by - Bachelor? Bachelorette? Real Housewives? BARF!

So maybe it’s not a gender thing, but a maturity/intellect thing.

Add Bridgerton to that list. And Outlander.

Wow this is me. Loved BB and Ozark. Could not get into Bridgerton or Outlander. And I’ve tried with Outlander so many times, I think I’m up to episode 8 throughout the years.

Same here. I was SO disappointed in Outlander. I love Scotland, history, the music, the cast... only to find it’s just a thinly disguised sexcapade. I couldn’t even make it through the first episode. Dreck. Same with Bridgerton.

How/why is this so popular? I have really enjoyed many other series but this was torture. What am I missing other than Bryan Cranston being a great actor?

I didnt like it either. The people were so gross.

I’m a woman and loved that show. Complex human and family relationships and a fascinating glimpse of descent into evil that can happen to the average person.

I'm a woman too. Phenomenal acting, and it shows that not everyone is clear cut good or clear cut bad. All of the characters were both, for the most part.

Outlander was actually painful to watch. The sex scenes made me embarrassed for the actors, and not because of the sex...just so cringy. SUch a waste of talent to film a veiled Harlequin novel.

That is definitely the most heart-breaking season. Phenomenal.

I didn’t understand why everyone praised The Wire so much at first. I liked it okay, but wasn’t particularly invested until close to the end of the first season. And even then I liked it well enough to continue but didn’t feel compelled to do so. But The Wire is stealthy; it is the cumulative effect that renders it so powerful. That is also probably why it didn’t get any Emmy love - you don’t get the full impact until it’s all over.
