They're right though.
People who think BB is the best show ever are the same type who think The Shawshank Redemption is the greatest film ever.
They're both okay but they appeal primarily to middling white men who like to think it's deeper than it is because anything with actual depth is too complicated or unrelatable.

I'm a woman and I enjoy them both too, but they really are not as great as many series and films covering similar themes.

It doesn't take a genius to enjoy The Wire, but the complaints I've seen most is that it's too slow, too complicated, and too hard to understand without subtitles, which they don't want to use. A lot of people don't want their entertainment to require any effort, and that's fine.

Yes, it might have gotten better later but I found it unbelievable and I didn't like any of the characters so I bailed.

I love the terrible decisions these characters make. It puts me in a position of wondering how I would handle it. I enjoy shows that depict a seemingly normal life that is actually anything but. Ozark appealed to me in a similar way.

Here’s my question- I loved The Wire back in the day, but does it age well? If I were to rewatch it, would it feel dated?

I watched it for the first time last year and it seemed pretty relevant.
2nd best show I've ever seen. 1st is Breaking Bad.
