Was coming here to say the same thing!  The Wire so highly acclaimed. So many people I know and whose opinions I respect loved it. Could not get into i.  Tried 4-5 episodes. Tried two or three times. I am sure it is as great as everyone says, just doesn’t grab me.

Might I suggest you at least just watch the season of the Wire that focuses on the kids?  I didn’t really watch any other season and while I was a little confused at times it is stand alone enough for you to understand what’s going on.  It is masterful in terms of pacing, acting and tone.  It is also heartbreaking.  But it is one of the best examples I’ve seen of how living in poverty can completely change the direction of your life regardless of how smart you are or how hard you try to avoid it.  It crushed my soul a little but I found it so thought provoking.  [/quote]
