Well that’s my dream too. Maybe I’ll be the new Mrs.

That's exactly what I was thinking too -- like "what's wrong with the cottage scenario?" though I don't want him in my cottage. We can have matching ones spaced a good distance away. We can meet once every few days for lunch, then it's back to separate cottages!

Money, duh. Is this rocket science?

Also her social status is tied to him.

And clemency amirite?

One thing I have always remembered about Bill Gates is an anecdote about what a jerk he was to his mother when he was younger (adolescent probably). He would yell at her and essentially call her stupid.

Maybe he grew out of that, maybe he wants to make the world a better place, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he is difficult to live with.

Well, it sounds better than "conscious uncoupling".

That's because some posters don't want anyone to divorce. They say stay for the kids when young, and you are in the bottom of the U curve of happiness when older, so stick it out.

Good for Bill and Melinda for being honest with themselves. They don't want to spend the rest of their lives together.

Doesn’t he supposedly take an annual vacation alone with an ex-girlfriend? His wife was supposed to be cool with that as part of their marriage agreement.

Kind of like this, but more private and higher-end:

I've read that same about that former dorky Google pres. Eric something.

This plus I’m sure he’s a nightmare to be married to. These guys are total sociopaths. I’m sad they’ve all reproduced.

Wow, this makes me sad. We know them. Not know them, know them, like besties, but we have many mutual friends and see them at events a few times a year. I am sorry to hear that they are divorcing. I wish them the best.

she may know another science teacher to match with her.

You don't know them at all. You sound like a creepy striver.

I’m kind of surprised, mostly because his flaws were always apparent. He had handlers at Microsoft to make sure he showed to things on time, bathed regularly, etc. He lives entirely in his head and has no sense of other people -he’s the highest functioning kind of person on the spectrum. She chose to marry that - have no idea if it was love, reasoned decisions, for money, whatever. I would have figured she would have carved out her life by now.

I will give them credit for no press leaks, drama, etc.

Imagine believing anything you've read about him is truthful and not being pr-planted fake bull****. His entire public persona is fake, down to the Easter sweaters.

And they can afford not to without taking any real hit to their lifestyles.

My guess is he goes the David Brooks route and you see him with a 30-ish year old homely but young looking gal he's had a working relationship with for years -- not a random 22 year old model and not a post menopause plastic skank like Bezos.
