Any guesses where Pete and Chasten Buttigieg will live in the DMV?

Neither of them strike me as crunchy.

yeah. gay and crunchy aren't necessarily synonymous lol. Pete was a McKinsey consultant, intelligence officer, officer in the Navy...

Yeah, I agree that they're not crunchy. And they are from the mid West. I think Navy Yard, Rosslyn/Clarendon or Tysons.
I just read about the dogs. That changes my votes to Vienna or even Springfield. If they want to have dogs and kids then they'll want a house with space. It would also make working for FCPS an easy choice as the following spouse.

Yeah, the new Secretary of Transportation is going to sit in the soul-killing traffic from Springfield. Gimme a break.

He will have a car and driver. And while I don't live in Springfield there are some nice parts that aren't all shopping center.

There’s a lot to like about Springfield. Doesn’t mean a sitting cabinet member will live there.

Yeah and apparently that house has only a $450 mortgage. Can South Bend peeps spill - did they just pay a lot or is it a bad neighborhood?

There are some townhouse communities in SW that would be reasonable from a privacy/security perspective (not open to the street) and a decent commute. My guess is they'll rent an apartment in one of the new buildings in Navy Yard first and then buy a place later.

+1. I'm sure there are lots of nice areas in the further out suburbs, but doesn't really make sense for a childless gay couple with a high-profile job in DC.

I love living in Springfield. But there is no way a Cabinet member is living here.

Definitely not Springfield but didn’t Colin Powell live in Vienna while he was serving?

Colin Powell lived in Burke twice during the time he was active duty.

Yes! I was thinking of Burke. Not Vienna. But I think Burke might be a bit too far-flung at this point. I think they’ll find a nice rental on the Hill.

This may be tough with two dogs. Buddy looks small but Truman looks like a big guy.

Old Town, Alexandria or Del Ray!

The Hill, don't think it's really a question. Pete will earn about 220K. They can afford the 4Kish rent.

It’s a nice neighborhood that’s walking distance to parks and downtown but also not far from some rougher areas. Probably valued in the 300K range, which is high for South Bend. Good location for DINKs.

Really. Who cares. Let them find a place in peace.

And I just found out his husband is only 31. I think they’ll want to live in DC.

Given this... maybe Foxhall or Palisades.

Or old town Alexandria.
