Wife Upset About Pregnancy

Maybe you could plan an evening focused on you two - cook something that appeals to her at this stage in pregnancy and get tickets to some virtual concert or event. Help her feel cared for in a way that’s not pregnancy-centric. Just give her some time to process, you know?

This. And good luck. It will all turn out ok.

OP here. She is 16 weeks pregnant and no. We would never consider any other option besides keeping our child. He was unexpected but a wonderful gift.

Troll. You don’t find out the gender until 20 weeks.

OP here. You can figure out the gender earlier. We found out at 8 weeks.

Insurance doesn't cover that blood test unless you are over 35

OP here. I never said it did. We have paid for multiple tests out-of-pocket.

I call troll. The out of pocket cost for that test if insurance doesn't cover it is thousands of dollars. No one would do that just to find out the gender a few weeks earlier.

No its not, I paid $100. Under 35. No need for the test other than that I wanted to know the gender. Most OB offices have agreements with a lab.

As a woman who had three HORRIFIC pregnancies and who's husband watched on in pained empathy as I endured months and months of vomiting and needles and physical therapy (ie, therefore someone you would think would be most irked by the 'we' thing) I think the we argument is really dumb. Anyone strenuously making arguments for or against it is being silly, its a turn of phrase.

OP your wife should be fine but is a nervewracking thing to be 16 weeks pregnant with your first even when the world hasn't gone to hell. Just be supportive, and take half the night time wake ups when the baby is born.

She is a healthcare worker ( works from home) and worried about getting pregnant with the pandemic. We had decided to wait until next fall to start trying, but we got pregnant. She is happy overall but I can tell she is worried. It sucks because I feel like I can’t be that happy about it. How do I help ease her worry? How can I be happy but respectful of her feelings at the same time?

First of all you did not get pregnant. Im assuming you are a male? You can be happy and supportive. If she is still worried after you reassiring her maybe she can talk to someone about her feelings?

Congrats

It's an unplanned pregnancy. I didn't know lesbian sex can cause someone to get pregnant.

Are u the op? You literally said WE are pregnant. My question was rhetorical. And soon two women will be able to have a baby
Sure. But not by accident.

At 32, I was told unless I have a medical reason or are over 35, insurance wouldn't authorize and cost would run $5000

I've been pregnant three times in two different states since 2015. I never had a medical necessity, I never had to pay more than $200.

OP here. The test just happens to show the gender because it’s a blood test. The NIPT screens for Down syndrome and a wide range of genetic abnormalities, which we paid for extra because we wanted to make sure it was a healthy pregnancy.

This is beyond false. Multiple people are suffering allergic reactions and harsh side effects from the vaccine. I would not take it without knowing what kind of harm it will do to a baby in utero.

OP here. Many insurances cover it regardless of age now for normal pregnancies. We paid a couple of hundred after insurance, but also paid for another test around 1500 out-of-pocket. It was worth it to us to make sure we had a healthy pregnancy.

OP here. We also didn’t get a NIPT to find out the gender. That was an added bonus. We just wanted to screen for chromosomal abnormalities. We don’t care about the gender. We are happy with either.

Nuchal ultrasound is done at 12 weeks and can tell the gender for sure if they see it is not. Usually they do this ultrasound for 30 yr old pregnant ladies. So Op knowing the gender is not a troll.
Anonymous
You must be bored OP. This is such a non issue.

You are married, in your 30s, and have a normal, healthy pregnancy, and she works from home. Is her “worry” really escalated to the point you need to post on a forum about it?

You are misinformed. I was 36 six years ago and I asked if I had wanted it before age 35 and if I did not have insurance, what it would have cost. It was a few hundred dollars. And that was years ago.
