I don’t see Chrissy trashing other women for their success. Alison Roman messed up big time.

Gotta call BS. Celebs are not chefs. Alison Roman is a trained chef. Lynne Rossetto Kasper wrote her own cookbooks and didn’t whore herself out with a Target line built by Chinese child laborers like Chrissy. She has no moral authority here.

Looks like Alison found this thread.

Nope. I don’t particularly like Alison Roman, either. But I am skeeved generally by the mass consumerism of the American public, the food network, and pseudo-celeb chefs. Chrissy Teigen is not a chef - her food is crappy - and this is the same critique I would make of Sandra Lee, Rachel
Ray and sundry. Marcella Hazan, she isn’t.

Her food isn’t for you. Period. Not everything has to be for you. Unless you are living in the woods in a house that you made by your own hands with supplies you made with your own hands then have several seats. You sitting here on DCUM proves your own hypocrisy. You aren’t better than anyone. In fact, you are worst bc you actually think you are doing something different. Get rid of of everything you consume and purchased then come back (oh wait, then you wouldn’t be able to complain). You and Alison must be BFF.

Your hypocrisy is stunning, Sierra.

Ok Allison. Tell Emily she is still hated.

Poor Madison never learned to spell (or cook). Yikes!

But you are blind to the fact that Roman only called out a certain subset of people. Wake up.

She called out several people. She may not have even Crissy Teigen is Asian.

Yeah I’m sure she doesn’t know

I didn’t know, actually. I thought she was Hispanic.

A nobody who is going to remain a nobody. She is also someone that a certain type of DCUM woman will sympathize and relate with.

Me, too. At your ignorance. She does look like several members of my Hispanic family.

Ummm...ok. She’s Thai and Norwegian which she discusses often.

So- predictions with regards to Romans future after this? Will she stay at the NYT? Will the Hulu show still happen?

I predict the New York Times puts her on indefinite leave by Monday because this is only picking up steam over the weekend. Every outlet has an article on it.

I think the 'show' will be cancelled the second the NYT benches her. There isn't even a formal press release on it which means the deal isn't finalized. I can't even find an article on deadline about her show or anywhere.

The funny thing is -- this isn't due to some DM being posted of Alison's or a weird comment said to a friend. She literally said this in a full-blown media interview.

There is a Reddit thread in the blogSnark sub that has over 500 comments right now. Apparently there are a lot of other instances of mean girl behavior from Roman. A few times on Instagram live she has been snarky and called out. Not a first for her

Yes, but the point is Alison Roman didn't call out Rachael Ray or Martha Stewart or Sandra Lee or Wolfgang Puck or Gordon Ramsay or Bobby Flay.

Why do you think she went after Tiegen and Kondo and only them?

I don’t see any evidence that Alison Roman is a racist, sorry. She and Molly Yeh are close friends. Molly is entirely self-made and can actually cook. And Gordon Ramsay can actually cook.

Yes white lady - racism is a figment of our imagination

I’m a POC who thinks your calling someone a racist for criticizing someone’s cooking is pretty disgusting when POC cannot even go jogging without getting murdered- shows a horrifying lack of perspective.

So you’ve been a person of color your whole life without realizing that there’s more than one kind of racism? What do you think that suggests about your perspective ?

I don’t think it’s racism that was the motivation for her critique. She’s very clearly jealous that Chrissy made quite a bit of money around cooking and is not a trained chef like her.

I actually sort of agree with the critique of Marie Kondo, whose philosophy is really to get rid of things and minimize clutter - however that criticism sounds hypocritical coming from Roman.

Chrissy Teigen made money from her cooking ventures in large part due to her prior success as a model and lets be honest, John Legend. She’s no doubt a great cook but so are many others. For Alison Roman to get bent out of shape over this is silly.

It says I have perspective - I don’t have to demean women by calling them ugly of basic or white (as if it were a pejorative). Criticizing 1.5 Asians re: their business models does not make someone racist. Just like criticizing Gwyneth Paltrow does not make one an antisemite. There is enough bigotry in the world - we do not need to invent any. You are also suggesting Alison Roman should be fired and lose a book deal because she doesn’t think Chrissy Teigen is the next Madhur Jaffrey/Julia Child/etc. That kind of cancel culture is corrosive and serves no one.
