Alison Roman slams Chrissy Teigen and Marie Kondo in interview

I think we’re being a little overblown about this. Sure, what she said was stupid and insensitive, but it was candid and not that important. Allison Roman doesn’t have any sway over any of this. Chrissy Teigen is going to be just fine.

When she was talking about Marie Kondo she mocked her accent and then came up with some crap to cover it. It looks like the article was edited to remove it.

Team Chrissy. Glad she fought back on Twitter.

Her explanation is so weird too and nonsensical. She was being racist. Also why attack two women of color but say nothing about GOOP for example? I think this comes across very poorly for her.

Well I've heard of Marie and Chrissy but not the other lady... so....

She's a genius.

I've only known her through ads on the NYT cooking section (which I don't subscribe to) so can't say I'm moved, but are her recipes really as good as the NYT raves on about?

I had never heard of her before this and now I don’t care to learn anymore about her. Apparently she is criticizing their entrepreneurial pursuits but she (Roman) has some kind of cookware line herself where three cooking utensils cost $60? She can build herself up without tearing down other women. Pathetic.

I saw her recipes being heavily criticized today, apparently she really watered down some kind of chickpea recipe, and she works with a lot of Asian recipes while also criticizing Asian women…

I agree.

I’m so sick of women like her (i.e. Emily Giffin) thinking their opinions need to be aired. Then they have the audacity to be shocked and upset when they are called out swiftly and harshly. Well guess what, if you want to share your opinion be prepared for eye rolls and backlash. Their entitlement is real annoying.

It’s astonishing that she put that explanation out there expecting anyone to buy it. I wonder about her social circle if she doesn’t think twice about throwing out this kind of gross casual racism in a public interview. She obviously doesn’t really deep down think of Asians as real people and was shocked to get any public pushback about it.

It’s a published on the record interview of someone with two published cookbooks and a New York Times column. She went after two Asian women. And you think it’s fine because she was candid about it?

No. Someone asked about it in the food forum a week or two ago and I told them the same thing: it’s bland and flavorless. 2 whole cans of coconut milk, chickpeas, and like 2.5 total tbsp of any seasoning. And she has the nerve to call it “THE stew.”
