What is true is this college scouts will in fact seek out the top girls in the GA to still watch if they are in GA so in that way it really doesn’t matter what league you are in. However, how will playing in a VERY watered down league help prepare those same girls for college. Yes I am speaking to the 03/04 teams. This does matter, speed of play is very important and those players need quality matches to keep up with the speed of play that they will be challenged with when going to top D1 schools. They will in fact be trying to beat out the other top players for that starting position in college that have been playing against top competition emulating the speed of play that they will eventually go into. If I am playing in a watered down league beating teams 5-0 what does that teach my DD? This is still about developing and you can’t develop if your not being challenged.

No that is just not true. It’s middle school and high school soccer. College will be faster vs anything they experienced at their club. Also the speed of play is not that high in the ECNL or exDA clubs. It is not something that is emphasized or selected for in youth soccer in the US. The big difference in ECNL and exDA vs other leagues is the physicality and speed(physical speed of the player). Speed of play depends on technical skills and the vision thing. You either have it or you don’t. This is why those great athletes the coach says they will develop rarely develop.

1. Some of the better players will leave.
2. Some players will stay because they like their coach and believe they are developing because of him/her.
3. If a college coach is interested in a player, they will follow that player, no matter the league. (Heard this from a Georgetown coach on our team Zoom call last week).
4. College ID camps will be important.

DD likes her coach so she will stay. She likes her team. We are hoping the majority stay. We think they will lose 2-3 players.

Such an great and honest post. Obviously you and your DD are extremely Secure in yourself as well as your daughters decision to move forward with the GA. I really mean this. I honestly believe she will do very well in that landscape and with you as a parent. So much luck to her future. This post has so much truth and many of the people posting on this thread should take notice of the maturity. Yes my DD is ECNL no I don’t care who is in GA and I hope all landscapes offer great competition for these girls to get ready for college.

I love both of these posts. My DD is also GA and planning to stay for reason 2, plus the fact that it’s hard to break into a new starting lineup at a new club in a big recruiting year. It’s not like ECNL *wasn’t* the club’s first choice, it was, but we’re gonna play the hand my DD was dealt in the way that seems to minimize the bands and maximize what she wants to get out of club soccer anyway — the chance to play in college. I kind of don’t care about anything else.

20 is a convenient spot to cut it off, also 2 of the 17 are GA clubs and who knows if their A team is in ECRL (not ECNL) or GA. GA is less than half the size of ECNL overall too.

Where do you want to cut it off then? at 10? 20? 50? 75? 100?

You can cut it off at any of these spots, and the comparison will still be the same. A majority of the top ranked clubs(wherever you choose to cut it off) are skewed to ECNL.

Why does everyone not like Bobby P? We are considering FCV for our child. Am I missing something other than his beinf tough which we are okay with.

^^^As Long as your child is one of his favorites you are in good shape-otherwise, be prepared to be ignored and marginalized!

Some girls peak later and that is not who he cares about...

You're going to need to like (or at least tolerate) kissing his ass and being surrounded by a *lot* of other parents who enjoy the same. If you're into that sort of thing, you'll love it there!

I love uneducated soccer parents

Check out UMD Men's Program and what club the most amount of players come from...Baltimore Celtic National League players

Don't need a league to be recruited...Just cause you play in ECNL, DA or GA...means squat

My daughters team is EDP and has a winning record against ECNL/DA(GA) teams in tournaments/Showcases

Any good club that has a strong culture of developing players and communicating with college coaches will have their players move on to play and get a education!

This is true. There are some exceptions, sure. Pipeline (who is now in ECNL) and Celtic and Mo Rush (or at least until recently when KL left). But it is the exception, not the rule.
