I love diving straight in to Page 10 of literally any subject on this board. Without fail, it will have devolved into girls' parents from the same 3-4 Virginia-based teams sh*t-talking each other. The subject could be "Future of Boys Soccer in Maryland" and, if it got to Page 10, it would be nothing but ... girls' parents from the same 3-4 Virginia-based teams sh*t-talking each other.

Nobody cares about MD clubs??? |
100% YES |
| Rumor is that Beach FC will get an invite to ECNL MA. From what I hear, FCV was never considered. |
| It would be very unlikely for FCV to be accepted and Arlington not-they are just as deserving if not more so since they were never in ECNL. |
Blame ECNL for the rise of a 2nd national league. The best thing for your DD is to tryout for the team where she is challenged by her peer group and the club has a strong and robust training program. If your DD is very good, the most competitive girls teams are not in ECNL. If she can’t make a GA club, she should look at ECNL and than whatever is closest. I know many of the ECNL clubs presume kids will come to their clubs because they have an ECNL badge. What the local ECNL clubs fail to understand is that we can see they have been performing poorly in the region and players want to be in winning teams. The local clubs don’t offer that. We know ECNL membership is not about merit, it’s just some bickering adults ruining youth soccer. |
This is the most accurate prediction IMHO. All the other noise about which league is better will be moot in 2 years, b/c by then ECNL will have the bulk of the players. But it will take two years, not least of all because a good number of excellent players on GA teams don’t have the connections or wherewithal to “try out” or get accepted for ECNL teams right now, when we’re in the middle of a pandemic. |
Open competition is the best way to raise the level of play and identify talent, but this is not how the US soccer currently works. Elite leagues whether ECNL or former DA have never been about merit. They are closed systems where a club gets admitted by an application rather than by winning the right to be in the top league on the field. Keeping the system closed and marketing it as an elite league is a way for the member clubs/coaches to attract talent from the outside. Until we have an open pyramid for all levels of soccer (from youth to professional) and let the competition decide which coaches, teams, players and clubs belong in the top tier, we will be stuck in the current situation. Until then, good luck debating which of the closed exclusive elite leagues is better, stronger, more elite! |

Ecnl was the league
USSF created a league, stole ECNL clubs, and splintered the two. DA collapsed leaving only ECNL. Tophat spearheaded the new GAL league So, tell us again your base of knowledge that allows you to form this opinion that ECNL is to blame. How about this....if USSF didn’t act like bullies in 2017 none of this would have happened. They started a fight and lost. They thought they were the hammer and found out they were the nail. GAL stands zero chance |
And yet, without GDA happening Loudoun, BRYC and VDA would not be ECNL right now and your kid would likely be bemoaning how closed ECNL is from your CCL sideline. |
Seems they are bemoaning even now - sitting outside of the GA looking in. Still not as good. |
| ECNL parents, please tell us more about how good your league is outside of the DMV. Just in case we move out of the area. |

There is nothing worse than 07/08/09 parents with an opinion and a platform
Listen, you guys are reaching the point of goofiness. You lack any knowledge. |
