Will riots/demonstrations affect UVA reputation/applications?

| As a black alum of the UVA, what's been troubling to me is "the University" and Charlottesville community's disingenuous statements about how out of character this is for the community. Jefferson himself founded the University on white supremacist principles that have been maintained in one form or another throughout the history of the school. Indeed, my experience has been that the the legacy of racism permeates the campus. I would have far more respect for "the University" if it acknowledged this and pledged to purge itself of the vestiges of it's horrendous record on race, instead of merely distancing itself from the alt-right protesters. |

If your kid is good enough for ACc sports, and is a minority, surely he/she can go to an Ivy League school. Why go to uva? |

Ivies don't offer scholarships and the ACC is a stronger athletic conference, so that makes UVA very attractive for bright and athletic kids. But my son has also been recruited by UVA and I am rethinking pursuing that opportunity for him. I'd rather get a second job to afford an Ivy League school than sending him to a alt-right hot bed. |

Where do you begin when the US President is a White national supremacist, KKK klansman and neo Nazi or in the very least is in collusion with these racists and Russia. Good lord, even Steve Bannon, a leading and self reported White racist, is in his WH west wing bedroom with national security clearance. uva/ivies have always been a haven of elite privilege (note elite not white racist mfs) all the bad stuff you see in movies about elite private and private boardings schools a lot of it is real and is reflected on college campuses and then onto board rooms these people never growup sadly |

| It will become a white school, plus for some, because no minority in their right mind would go to Chalottsville after this. UVA did not protect its summer students very well on Friday night and did a poor job with statements about it. Even Asian students will likely stear clear. They may be the "model minority" but they know when the Klan comes to town, they're gunning for them too. |
