Will riots/demonstrations affect UVA reputation/applications?

As a parent of African American boys, the behavior of police and the likelihood of anti black violence is key to our decision making about where our boys go to college. I am not sure the police in Charlottesville would protect my son from attack-- Likewise the police in Missouri. African American parents constantly must fear for the safety of children. One of my sons is in school in the northeast, and feels reasonably safe in his college town. We will weigh the racial environment and the police history when my younger son applies to college.

The police in Charlottesville will not protect your sons if ever they chose to go to UVA. The only thing they are good at is handing out speeding tickets. The way they handled the riot make it obvious they are incompetent. They can't even fly their damn helicopter.

+1 Plus I fully expect that half of them are Southern racists anyway. The police, that is.
