Skirts with bare legs, and it's 18 degrees.

That's a perfect reason NOT to do it.

Knobby knees and ankles, toe cleavage and bony feet, are "glamorous" and "cute"? That's hilarious!

All of those are still visible with hose, you know. Hose doesn't do anything to hide them so it doesn't fit your definition of "glamorous" or "cute" either.

More importantly stop policing people's clothes. Tend to your own business.

You live a sheltered life. Must be a suburbanite.

Nope. I live and work in the city. Get your money up and you can get off the Metro and ride in heated confort too. Then your eyes will never have to accosted by these women with bare legs minding their own business.

WHY? Why live and work in the city if you drive everywhere? Do you drive to every restaurant you go to? Do you drive to Whole Foods? What's the point? You're acting like a suburban person.

Makes no sense. May as well give up and move to McLean.

Not to mention goose pimples and wet, dirty feet from stepping in slush.

Hose does PLENTY to hide those things. Now you're just being ridiculous.

Please don't wear ballet flats with socks, ever.[/quote

Wasn't suggesting that. There are winter shoes--oxfords, booties, shoeties, boots.

Taxis. Uber. I only dress like this when dressed up. Walk to the gym or grocery store in sweats or jeans.

Are you being purposefully obtuse? No, that is not the point. The point is that some women follow ridiculous fashion trends at the expense of their health. As much as you want to cry that you are comfortable with nothing on your lower extremities, im not buying it. And it looks stupid and unprofessional. No one is "tearing anyone down". We are discussing fashion trends.

Not PP but wth are you talking about? Being bare legged in the winter isn't a trend to follow, it's a choice people make. Tights are quite trendy and would provide more warmth. This thread was created just to tear down and ridicule women who do something OP wouldn't do. It's silly.

Okey dokey. I will continue to think it utterly ridiculous and highly improbable that any woman goes out in 18 degree weather bare legged because that is "more comfortable." There is a reason we humans cover our bodies when it's cold. To not do that when it's this cold is to follow some silly fad.

This thread is interesting. I just assumed those women with goose pimples on their bare legs were cold. I felt cold just looking at them, and wanted to lend them something warm. But, now I'll look at them and realize that even though their legs are blue, they are actually quite comfortable, and I'll stop feeling empathetic distress for them.

Tights, pants, anything to cover that exposed skin in this brutal weather.

then it's hot in the office

i now work from home, but i remember the absolute misery of going to the office when it's hot or cold out, and the inside temp is vastly different from the outside temp/

And I think you are BS-ing when you say that tights are somehow too hot, or that bare, exposed legs somehow feel "good" when it's 18 outside.

I think you misunderstand. The bare legs in cold weather feel like shit. But given the temperature discrepancies - how hot it is inside, when it's so cold outside - I sometimes chose to be cold outside in order to be comfortable inside. When I worked in Congress - in my early/mid 30s - I used to feel like I was going through menopause, with the freezing cold temps outside, then coming into the boiling hot buildings.

I'd end up wearing tights outside, then changing inside, or wearing boots outside then putting on other shoes, but if you were only going to be outside a short time - walking to get a sandwich or something - you might go with the bare legs.

np. Umm...this is how I feel in the summer. I don't work for congress, but its boiling hot outside, and the AC is set at like 65 inside so I'm FREEZING inside and have to keep a blanket for my legs and a sweater at my desk so that I don't die of cold in my office (or the grocery store, library, restaurants. etc).
