Skirts with bare legs, and it's 18 degrees.

Saw a kid at my son's middle school in shorts.

Lucky little radiators! I'm all bundled up and still freezing.

Tights, pants, anything to cover that exposed skin in this brutal weather.

then it's hot in the office

i now work from home, but i remember the absolute misery of going to the office when it's hot or cold out, and the inside temp is vastly different from the outside temp/

And I think you are BS-ing when you say that tights are somehow too hot, or that bare, exposed legs somehow feel "good" when it's 18 outside.

Spotted yesterday: bare legs and peep-toe slingbacks.

Tights? It just looks so unprofessional and so out of season. We are a 4 season town. It's like wearing flip-flops instead of snow boots in the snow. I would feel so self- conscious. Black tights and flats or boots go with just about anything.

I would wonder about your level of common sense if I were your boss.

Same goes for ballet flats with no socks.

If you wonder about that and not my actual work product, I wouldn't think you're a very good boss.

I think you misunderstand. The bare legs in cold weather feel like shit. But given the temperature discrepancies - how hot it is inside, when it's so cold outside - I sometimes chose to be cold outside in order to be comfortable inside. When I worked in Congress - in my early/mid 30s - I used to feel like I was going through menopause, with the freezing cold temps outside, then coming into the boiling hot buildings.

I'd end up wearing tights outside, then changing inside, or wearing boots outside then putting on other shoes, but if you were only going to be outside a short time - walking to get a sandwich or something - you might go with the bare legs.

Anonymous wrote:I see this all the time downtown. Short skirts, short coat and bare legs in the middle of the winter. Why? It looks so stupid and I know it doesn't feel good so why do you do it, ladies?

Oh hell, I grew up in Wisconsin---I don't even have my winter coat out yet!

When I see women in bare legs and pumps (any season), I take them less seriously. At best, I think they are just stupid. At worst, if the situation is really inappropriate for bare legs, I think they are disrespectful. I'm not even that old, and I know others feel this way too.

Yes you can wear anything you want, but there are consequences in how people perceive you.

Women with bare legs and pumps in any season are stupid at best? Oy, I can't wait for boomers to retire.

This is hardly even winter. It's only 20F out? I mean - it's cold, but back home...we get COLD. Maybe I will dress warmer if it actually snows or we get a real winter here. Until that time, meh.

And the world keeps spinning and the get to live fabulous lives if they so choose and your judgement doesn't stop them from the one, best ever opportunity that they will now never know. Good grief, you don't hold the keys to the universe, so don't assume that you and your judgy ilk even matter in these women's lives.
