I've never met anyone here who was born and raised "in DC/burbs." How weird. |
+1 |
Why do you have to be so insulting? There's nothing weird about it. Your need to put others down is unfortunate. |
I'm AA (biracial) and love Tel Aviv. Had a blast when I was there |
No. Israelis are notorious dicks. |
And so loud. |
NP here. I think your response to PP is pretentious and kind of obnoxious. I'm not a fan of McMansions. And I'm "cultured." But I like having my own space. I also like having a yard and dogs and cats. Living in an apartment in a city full time (as opposed to just traveling there for a temporary "experience") would not appeal to me. I think you could buy a house with a yard in Indiana and still have enough money leftover to buy "experiences" and travel. I find it obnoxious when people assume the only experiences worth having are ones that involve travel. I've traveled, and yet my best memories -- hands down -- are the ones that involve running around barefoot in my backyard as a kid chasing fireflies. I hate it when people pretend they're enlightened and open minded and then make a statement that is completely closed off to the possibility that other people might enjoy different experiences than the kind they enjoy. I don't have children, and I understand some people like raising kids in a city. But that wouldn't be my preference. One is not better than the other. They're just different. |
You have a small, closed mind. |
Wow. Don't depend on your husband to make you happy, PP. |
Well said! |
Isn't that what they say about Washingtonians? Admittedly, yes, Israeli culture is not as polite as you may be used to but you can't label an entire nationality as "dicks." Unless you yourself are a dick. Because that is a dick move. |
Isreal says thank you. |
I think this decision is more than a city vs. smaller town thing. I mean, this exact same argument could be had about buying a condo in DC vs. a big house out in Loudon County or southern MD. There are pluses and minuses to both situations. I haven't been to Tel Aviv but DH has friends who lived there for a few years and loved it. At some point DH may have the opportunity to do a detail there as well for a couple years- admittedly I'd prefer to go to a different region than the Middle East but that would be one of the few places I'd consider in the region. |
Took the thought right out of my head - thanks. As for PP: What a bigoted, anti-Semitic generalization to make! YOU are the dick, PP. You should think long and hard about your prejudices and overall worth as a human being. |
Ft. Wayne.
I've lived overseas before, more than once, but I wouldn't want to move to Tel Aviv. |
