Nor should OP be concerned; I believe too many of the worriers in this thread have not actually visited Israel. I have. And I would not hesitate for a moment to raise my kids there given the opportunity to do so.

OP: somebody above mentioned cost. That is a legitimate concern because Tel Aviv is expensive. Another person mentioned driving: it's, well, a little crazy! Imagine Rome at rush hour. That is one thing I found a little shocking over there.

But not enough to dissuade me from moving for a few years.

Good point. Israelis are some of the worst drivers on earth and have the highest rate of auto accidents in the developed world. Lots of a**hole, entitled Israelis who are not very good at sharing the road.

you are originally from flyover country aren't you?

Spending money on experiences > getting a 5000 sqft house to match your 5000 sqft spouse.

Nope, sorry to disappoint your little mind. Born and raised in DC/burbs. Definitely take the nice house over danger zone. I'm not a snob like you seem to be.

Tel Aviv is great! Not my favorite city in the region but hands down over Indiana. It's hellishly hot, though. Like Houston, hot and humid.

We lived there for two years with State Dept. Loved it. Despite being there for a month of the Gaza war last summer. Would go back in a heartbeat. Awesome food. Gorgeous Mediterranean. Wonderful nursery school. Overall great experience. Do it!

You are from... NYC? Not PP but you sound mean and condescending. Not a nice combo. I posted back on page two that I just cannot fathom how the security issues are being so easily dismissed on the thread. But then again I do not view it as a fate worse than death to move to the Midwest.

If you are referring to Tel Aviv, then I must ask: are YOU crazy PP?

Have you even been to Tel Aviv?

It is a wonderful place!

The cost of living could be a little lower maybe. But on balance, why not live there? (BTW - my job/family happens to be in DC right now).

Tel Aviv nightlife is amazing. Between that and the women, I'm surprised OP's husband hasn't already demanded that Tel Aviv is the destination to pick.

Would never move to Isreal as an AA. They are still in the 1950s when it comes to race relations.
